ES Input.cfg controller question

Good day... So i have a controller that I have in my cab, and its clearly upside down. Right is left, left is right, up is down etc.
Changing it in the Add INput doesnt work, nor does changing it in the esinput.cfg. I tried to change their values around, all on ID 0.
Is there any where else i can make this change without ripping my cabinet apart? Clear acrylic welds :)

What emulator?
What is your current setup? (Hardware)
What EmulationStation version? -
nevermind... i just edited the few indiv games settings inside mame... was hoping to do it globally, buts its ok
