SNES mini theme

@lord-raziel
Happy now :) ? -
Awesome! I didn't want to sound as if I were demanding for that splash screen (even it may sound as it), thanks ruckage, we appreciate all the efforts you have done over your themes, there are many themes in the scene but personally yours are the best!
-
@ruckage Great job, just like your themes.
Haven't really followed upcoming themes before, when you release the snes mini theme will it be available through retropie setup immediately?
-
cant wait!!!!

The theme is now available to download from github.
It only supports 1080p for this initial release but I will add support for other resolutions and 4x3 modes.
Be sure to read the included '## CUSTOMISATION GUIDE ##.txt' for instruction on how to customise the look of the theme.https://github.com/ruckage/snes-mini-es-theme/archive/master.zip
Here is a quick video of my Super Famicom build using this theme.

Somehow hadn’t replied in this thread yet...
Looks excellent, as always. I’ll load it up on the Pi after dinner and give it a test run!
-
I don't know if you noticed, but the theme name order of the repo is switched around. Currently it's snes-mini-es-theme, instead of es-theme-snes-mini.Fixed now.

I haven't had time to mess with the different backgrounds but it's really good so far.
One small bug I noticed: The Nintendo DS logo doesn't display for me. I fixed it by renaming "NDS.png" to "nds.png" in art\logos
-
@ruckage It's really good!
Only problem so far for me are the symbols for playercount are distorted on games that have entries like "1-2 " or "1-4".
-
@hailtostarscream
Nothing I can do about that, it relies on the player count in the gamelist being a single digit number so you'll have to edit your gamelist.xml. -

Well spotted, I'll get that fixed.

@ruckage Ok thx

I installed and love the look of the theme few bugs I found so far 1st one that was mentioned the #number of players not only is garbled but also displays 2 random f systems across the gamelist for all games with a 1- something . A disable option if this can't be fixed. would at least get rid of the eyesore. Also in the config menu behind all logos you can see the toad logo that says box-art is in another castle. And then as for missing features I would love to even see a generic collections icon and menu for my collections. also a Y for Favorites with the others in menu like X for Random and what not. Otherwise thanks for all your hard work and the great theme ruckage. Also making it so customization is very welcome and awesome of you.

Not sure what you mean by 'displays 2 random f systems across the gamelist'?
I don't plan to change the way players are displayed. Even on my NES/Famicom themes which use text it would not display correctly if formatted as '1-2' or '1-4' as it wouldn't fit in the area provided. It must depend on the scraping source as all my scraped metadata has players as a single digit (scraped from screenscraper.fr using sselph scraper).
The simplest fix is just to open your gamelist.xml in something like notepad++ and do a search/replace on '1-2' and replace it with '2', very quick and easy.Also in the config menu behind all logos you can see the toad logo that says box-art is in another castle.
I'll get that fixed, I will probably just have to remove him completely (He wont appear now if you set the view mode to video).
And then as for missing features I would love to even see a generic collections icon and menu for my collections.
It's not possible at the moment unfortunately due to the way this theme is structured (this uses a single base theme.xml instead of a folder per system), If I find a way I can do it without adversely affecting performance then it will be added in the future.
also a Y for Favorites with the others in menu like X for Random and what not.
Yeah, I just hadn't got round that yet - it didn't seem all that important and I'm not sure yet if I have space for all of the button information (particularly in the USA SNES view and when 4x3 support is added.) I will look into adding though.
edit: I may have to sacrifice the Dpad icons, I think most people would figure out that you push up/down to select a game anyway. -
@ruckage thanks ruckage for reply and the random f thing I did a workaround by putting the rating and player number on right side as for y for Favs would rather have that to arrow keys myself also thanks for suggesting easy way to fix the 1-2 player thing

A little bit offtopic, but speaking of 4:3 support, does the NES/Famicom-mini theme support 4:3 TVs or is this something new you first time implement into a theme of yours?
-
As I've said, very good theme! All I need now is a logo for the MSX System, then I can die happy^^
-
Will this be added to the ES themes section for an easy download? Also how do usually people install themes via USB?

Don't think it works simply via USB. I used WinSCP to put the theme in /etc/emulationstation/themes .

Hopefully. I've got a few updates I'd like to do first though.
The easiest way to install a theme is via samba. If you are using windows the pi will show up under 'network', double click on it. Open the 'configs' folder.
Open the 'all' folder.
Open the 'emulationStation' folder.
In here create a folder and name it 'themes'.
Place your themes in the the newly created folder.This is from memory so I apologise if I've made a mistake.
