I'm sorry, I didn't realize that motion blue was a third party.. I will try the track all with a fresh version of retropie after updating. I'm pretty sure it will still have the same issue though as motion blue doesn't change anything. I hope I'm wrong cause I've been going crazy trying to figure this out. Thanks for all the help

@kmetz7547 Many people keep telling you the same thing over and over through multiple posts. Use advmame, use the official image, get the correct romset. Your issues will go away.

OK I'm going to try that again. All I need to do is drop advmame roms (non merged 1.06) into arcade folder and run with advmame emulator? Sorry for all the newbie questions.. I've just been struggling with mame. I wanted to use just mame2003 but whatever... I will delete my previous posts so I don't get confused on all the helpful comments from everyone. Thank you

@kmetz7547 https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/MAME you have to be using the correct mame emulator with that set. Then you edit the relevant configs accordingly.

I am using the official image and i cant seem to get my trakball to work.
I am using a kensington trackball mouse. It is recognised as a device. I can see that it is working when i use cat /dev/input/mice, but when i go into AdvMAME and go into the config i try to change Track X Dec and it wont recognise any movement from the trackball.

@robthedude81 i dont know why people keep saying use advmame only. Trackball works fine in lr-mame2003 and lr-mame2010. If you get the correct romsets you can try lr-mame2003 and lr-mame2010

@robthedude81 I second @edmaul69, trackball should work fine in 2003 for most stuff. I used to use AdvMAME for any trackball and spinner games, but thanks to updates by @dankcushions lr-mame2003 has great support. Now, you won’t be able to setup a three trackball cabinet for Rampart using 2003 (but you could in AdvMAME) but for many games, 2003 should work fine.

Hearing your issues started after an update makes me a little nervous.

Hello everyone. I made an account because of this issue, after I updated to Retropie 4.3, the trackball will not respond on any of my games in mame 2003. It worked fine before the update. If there isn't a solution, is there at least a way to downgrade back to 4.2?

@majin-wamu You might check the core-options described here:

@caver01 I have already checked all of that. For trackballs it tells you to go through the menu. All those settings have been adjusted long ago, and I rechecked them to be sure, but now the trackball magically doesn't work. I am quite sad because the main game I play is centipede, and now the character doesn't move at all unless I move the joysticks.

@jonnykesh is a new thread necessary? I thought my problem was the same as the topic suggests. What is the requested information?

Totally up to you, but resurrecting month old threads is usually not the way to get help.

@majin-wamu I wasn't being rude. Because things change so much even week to week in RetroPie, unless you are specifically involved a new thread is usually best
