LR-VICE C64
-
Hey folks any way to get the virtual keyboard in LR-VICE to use the d-pad to select rather than have to enable the mouse to select the letters....
Thanks

@gorgar there are f key options for lr-vice. One of them is virtual keyboard. I think one of the controller buttons bring up the keyboard too.

@gorgar just thinking, you probably want to use @mediamogul 's xboxdrv guide to set up your controller so you can set the virtual keyboard and the spacebar to your controller. (Spacebar is button 2 and player 2's button which is used for 2 button games)

hey thanks for the reply but getting the keyboard to pop up is not the issue, it is selecting the virtual keys. It looks like i have to enable mouse and select with the mouse cursor. I would just like to use the dpad to highlight the virtual key that like the old version.... its not a crucial issue i know but its a bit of a pain the way if is.

@gorgar you can use joymap to set an analog joystick up as a mouse. And you can add the spacebar and escape keys as well with it

@edmaul69 as far as it is libretto it should be possible to activate the analog Stick also in the input section of retroarch.

@sirhenrythe5th i dont know any way to make a joystick act like a mouse in retroarch.

Hi all-perhaps this solution helps @gorgar :
Once @edmaul69 wrote:
„if you go into the retroarch gui and go into quick menu options and change controller0 type from keyboard to joystick it then allows you to enter vice menu and vice keyboard from a controller. also one of the controller buttons makes your analog the mouse so you can control everything with your controller now.“(see: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/11576/vice-says-press-play-on-tape-and-nothing-happens)
I tried with my xbox 360 wireless-there is one thing:
You have to push “select” to activate the “Mouse-Movement-Mode via Controller/dpad”.
Otherwise the mouse pointer will be accessible from
Mouse/Touchpad like before and you wonder why your controller doesn’t act like you need it.On my xbox 360 Controller i start the gui via “start”-button and my x or y-button shows the Keyboard.
You can look at these Mappings in the Retroarch-Config (my raspi is off-can’t tell you exactly the place).I still go insane slowly in testing lr-vice and switching to vice-64 because vice-64 is buggy with that settings (but comfortable in assigning functions/key to controller - and you can use 2 Controller) and lr-vice just uses 1 Controller (i couldn’t figure it out how to use my second controller-ps3/which is correct setup in es).
I wish lr-vice will be developed further because of the great integration in retroarch.
