Mortal Kombat X Fightpad with Retropie 4.1

I am wondering if anybody has setup retropie for use with the PDP Mortal Kombat X Fightpad?
I have mine plugged in, and it recognizes the controller when it is switched to the 360 mode. It says "hold down a button to configure controller", but nothing happens when I hold down any of the buttons.
I recently updated the Xpad driver hoping that would fix my issue, but it did not.
Does anybody know how I can get this controller working?

@burgoyne Did you ever get any resolution to this issue? I had the same thing happen to me and I am also looking for a solution to use the same gamepad.
