No wifi connectivity on Pi zero W with 2.2 pitft
I was reading another topic here where a guy was getting lag/stutter gameplay on SNES with his PiZeroW, it turns out his fix was to turn off his wifi & it cleaned up the gameplay fairly well from what the author said. So I tried doing what they recommended but upon getting to the wifi menu when I try to connect to wifi, I get the following 2 options:
Connect to wifi network
Disconnect/remove wifiI chose connect to wifi network, then I get the next 2 options:
0
H Hidden ESSIDIf I chose 0 it is "unable to connect to network"
If I try to "Disconnect/remove wifi config" all it does is blink a black screen for a second & continues to display the wifi menu, from there I could exit wifi settings & return to the emulation station menu settings. The previous 2 times before this 3rd attempt, I had tried different versions of raspian provided from the raspberrypi site but the trouble with the wifi would always start up the moment I would finish the config & go into setting up the 2.2 pitft display. I have read other topics where others have experienced the same thing & it always goes back to losing connectivity of wifi & Bluetooth once the display is configured from hdmi to the Pitft.
Along with losing the wifi, I can no longer access the pi through SSH on my Mac, I can only access terminal on the Pi. However, now since it displays on the 2.2 Pitft I can barely read what I type in to terminal & I can not figure out how to switch display to hdmi again so I can at least troubleshoot through terminal.
The reason I reached the wifi issue this 3rd time of reformatting/burning the SD card process was because I realized I couldn't play ANY of my GBA Roms... so I read I had to download/update GBA emulators since I only have 2... Thus ending here now unable to update/download GBA emulators due to wifi.
I have been working on this Pigrrl zero project for about 3 weeks now. Anywhere from 3-5 hours a day after a long day of work, I've been keeping my cool & doing diligence by reading other people's topics to avoid making my own posts, but I have to admit that it is frustrating at times. So here I am reaching out to this wonderful community, hoping that I can be steered the right direction, any help would be kindly appreciated, THANKS ahead.
Pi Model: PiZero W from adafruit
Power Supply used: 5.25V - 2.4A wall adapter from adafruit
RetroPie Version Used: installed NOOBS LITE V2.4 respectfully from https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/noobs/
Built From: I followed the PDF manual provided by https://learn.adafruit.com/pigrrl-zero/software?view=all
On page 16 of the PDF manual they provide a link for the PI ZERO W img: http://adafru.it/rne
File name PiGRRL_Zero.img - no version info, all I can find is that it was created 9/12/16 11:39am
USB Devices connected: Apple keyboard A1243
Controller used: none
Error messages received: can't tell since the 2.2 pitft displays the text very tiny in terminal -
I came across this issue a while back, and what I did was: disconnect/remove wifi, then go back a screen and then the router appeared and I was able to connect to it. I also had an issue with my password and it turned out that the keyboard setting was wrong, so it was typing the wrong characters (I needed a hyphen "-" and it was giving me a backslash "/")

@ballboff I tried what you mentioned but nothing shows up but the same 2 options:
0
H hidden ESSIDI honestly don't think its something that simple. I logged in to my router to see if it would even pick up the Pi, unfortunately it's not.
Thanks for your input, I appreciate ALL the help I can get.
