Adafruit feather and RetroPie
-
Hello,
I've recently bought an Adafruit Feather 32u4 Bluefruit LE and got it set up to work like a keyboard, when I connect a GPIO pin it types a letter. I can successfully connect to RetroPie but when I try to configure input the feather doesn't show up, Can anyone tell me whats going on? -
@cezza_gant Have you installed any drivers? You probably need
gamecondriver
Install this via the setup script. -
@jonnykesh I think gamecondriver works for controllers connected to the Raspberry pie's GPIO, I'm trying to connect via Bluetooth rather than physically.
-
@cezza_gant Sorry, I have no idea what the feather is. Have heard of it, just never bothered to find out what it actually is and since you mentioned GPIO I just assumed.
What is it? -
@jonnykesh The feather 32u4 Bluefruit is basically a microcontroller board with Bluetooth capabilities. The idea is to solder some buttons on to it and make myself a Bluetooth controller. https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-feather-32u4-bluefruit-le/overview

@cezza_gant Sorry, yeah just googled it. Seems like you are not the only one having issues. https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=170499&p=1093659

Phiuuu.... I had the same problem @CeZza_Gant .
First i updated BlueZ to version 5.37 from this link
https://learn.adafruit.com/install-bluez-on-the-raspberry-pi/installation
There's a newer version (5.47 or something) but when i installed that one it didn't work.
Anyway... after following the instuctions for 5.37 suddenly it worked. Not sure what happened but it worked.
- Turn On my Adafruit Feather 32u4 Bluefruit LE
- I entered to configuration ->bluetooth->Register and connect
- Retropie detects my BLE device and then connects
- Something happens there, the UI freezes so i have another keyboard connected to my RPi, Ctrl+C to go back to Emulation Station
- And that's it. The feather's blue LED is turned on and connected to the RPi
- You go to configure input and the feather is detected as a keyboard.
It all was a trial and error, so, if my instructions doesn;t work, keep trying.
Regards from Mexico!
