Keyboard suddenly not typing after update?

Hi, I few days ago I updated from whatever update was from December 25th 2016, to retropie 4.3. After the update when I tried to type something with my keyboard the letters would not show up! The keys that I was able to program on my keyboard are working (Like A and B). If you know how to fix this please tell me how! My keyboard's letter keys do not have ANY function at all! Thanks!
