Dead Playstation converted into XU4 powered RetroPie system.

the 3d printed USB ports are amazing :)
-
@retroprogrammer Thanks! It took me about 7 prototypes to get the size just right, each one took a few hours to print.
-
nice! I don't have a 3D printer yet, but can't wait to buy one!

Are you using either this theme: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/11794/new-theme-playstation or https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/11883/release-psx-mini-theme this theme, they are both beautiful and would look good with your case

I have all of them installed and browsed around a bit. The Playstation theme is true to form, unfortunately the design didn't age well.
I've been liking Futur-V. -
@MegaTimX yes that is true and Futur-V is a real good theme, well good job on the build :)

Anything you can say about the odroid itself? How much better is the emulation on it? Anything else you've tried?
-
@zerojay it runs every Playstation and N64 game I have tried smoothly. I couldn't compare it since I have never used a Pi3B, this is my first SBC project, I usually mess around with PCs. I haven't bothered trying Dreamcast games on it other than Soul Calibur(which was pretty buggy). I am a sucker for powerful hardware so I ran with the XU4 over the Pi3 even though it is a bit more complicated to use due to less support. The Odroid forum has been helpful, since the company tends to respond to questions, usually on Korean time it seems.

@megatimx marvel vs capcom 2 for dreamcast works good even on a pi 3. It is worth it to install that game imo.

Unfortunately I would need to install RecalBox to have Dreamcast support. For reasons beyond my comprehension the Odroid version of RetroPie doesn't support Reicast. The XU4 is much better suited for emulation than the Pi3. A $30 difference is small when you consider that it has double the ram and more than twice the processing power. When the Pi4 is released in a few years it will probably be comparable to the XU4, so the XU4's lifecycle would last far longer.
