Cool! I was just curious. It is great as it is. I guess if I had to choose a company that represented Raspberry Pi the best, it'd be Adafruit.

And not to hi-jack your thread, but if anyone want's a PS2 version,

Did you just cut the most orgasmic console startup sound ever ? Shame on you and your family.

Unfortunately I would need to install RecalBox to have Dreamcast support. For reasons beyond my comprehension the Odroid version of RetroPie doesn't support Reicast. The XU4 is much better suited for emulation than the Pi3. A $30 difference is small when you consider that it has double the ram and more than twice the processing power. When the Pi4 is released in a few years it will probably be comparable to the XU4, so the XU4's lifecycle would last far longer.

@edmaul69 I think I was getting some interference with the foil, kept getting slow copy speeds to the flash drive or copy errors, so the foil was removed and the issue was resolved.

I love this theme, but the handhelds just look horrible. All the consoles are pretty square anyway so you can get away with them, but then handhelds are usually horizontal or vertical and even if you put a thickness on them to create a 3d effect they still look terrible. On the snes classic the gba is a top down view of the classic purple gba

Okay, this project won't go any further, as I've finalized the build. Sadly, I don't have any new pictures to show, but I got a new SCPH-9002 case, that I sacrificed for the job. Repositioned the Raspberry on the case, so that it sits pretty much in the middle of the case, installed cooler with a 40 mm fan, using the 5V line from the GPIO pins, and the cooler is attached to the board with blue tac and thermal grease and used these small copper plates to lift it up from the board components. Changed the internal HDMI-extension cable to flat-type one, so it fits inside the case easily. Last but not least, got myself a Class 2 64 Gb Sandisk SD-card, that I use to store the games internally as well. The USB hub is still there to transfer games and for kb/mouse to do services.

Keeping it pretty much as simple as possible, it was a fun project to work with and has been working flawlessly from day one. I might do something else someday, as I have one spare Raspberry, maybe a retro PC-type of thing. :)

And now I'm happy to tell you all, that it worked! Thanks for the author of that video as well, really helpful guide for all of us. And also thank for everyone helping over here, help, friendly opinions and good points is always needed. :)

Interestingly, the controller won't work properly, until you press the Analog-button and lid up the red light, after you're started/rebooted the console. But that doesn't matter, as it kinda works like a On/Off switch for the controller.

Been awhile since I've updated on this project. Ran into some hiccups and progress has slowed. The dvd drive was unstable as it wasn't getting enough power, adding a powered usb hub and a separate power supply to help with this. However unless I get help from a programmer I dont think Ill be getting it to play PS1 discs anytime soon, However I can still save the disc to ram or sd card so not completely useless. I recently got my psx->usb adapter soldered in would rather go gpio but couldn't get it to work.

Purchased an arduino nano to make ORIGINAL psx memory cards hopefully run on the pi.
