Pi Model or other hardware: Raspberry Pi 3
Power Supply used: 5v, 3A power supply
RetroPie Version Used 3.8.1 / 4.3 (see below)
Built From: 4.3 Pre-made image from retropie.org.uk, 3.8.1 Pre-made image from http://www.retrobuiltgames.com/porta-pi-arcade-help/porta-pi-software-os-download/, 4.3 updated from previously named 3.8.1 image (see below)
      USB Devices connected: USB keyboard
      Controller used: none
Error messages received: N/A, blank screen
Log found in /dev/shm/runcommand.log (if relevant): file does not exist
Guide used: (Mention if you followed a guide) N/A
File: (File with issue - with FULL path) N/A
Emulator: (Name of emulator - if applicable) N/A
Attachment of config files: (PLEASE USE PASTEBIN.COM FOR LARGE LOGS)
      How to replicate the problem:

I have a Porta Pi Arcade kit purchased from http://www.retrobuiltgames.com . The software offered featured RetroPie 3.8.1, and the pre-made image there works fine with the 10 inch LCD with the kit. I attempted to flash RetroPie 4.3 to the SD card, but I get no video on the LCD screen. If i connect my TV to the HDMI port, I am able to get a picture, and the Pi boots fine. Setting hdmi_safe=1 in /boot/config.txt does not allow the LCD panel to display. Flashing back to 3.8.1 with the pre-made image allowed the LCD panel to work again, and I set up my wifi settings and used RetroPie Setup to download the latest version. After rebooting when it finished, the LCD panel stopped working again, but I am able to ssh/samba to the machine. setting hdmi_safe=1 still does not allow the LCD Panel to work

      To re-iterate:
3.8.1 = HDMI connected LCD panel works ok.
4.3 = HDMI connected LCD panel does not work, HDMI TV works, hdmi_safe=1 does not work,
3.8.1 updated to 4.3 = HDMI connected LCD panel does not work, HDMI TV works, hdmi_safe=1 does not work

What can be done to get this LCD panel, which worked fine under 3.8.1, to work under 4.3?

        From his site:

If you have questions that are not answered in my RetroPie FAQs Please see the RetroPie Forums for help.

Per forum rules, They would do well to provide a link to the official image with explicit details on making it work with their hardware instead of sourcing their own outdated images. I don't personally care to provide free support for someone else's product. As I'm sure many others here feel the same

Perhaps they can provide more details what they did to their image to make it work so you can reproduce it from scratch on 4.3?

If you read the documentation it will answer 99% of your questions: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/

If I read your post correctly, are you saying you tried the 'official' retropie image as well as the 'unofficial' version (that isn't supported here), or just the 3.8.1 unofficial?

Try editing /boot/config.txt and add this hdmi_force_hotplug=1
