@johnnyskullhead It depends on the version of MAME. All the answers you will need are in the links below.

            yes there is: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/lr-mame2003#samples

that's for mame2003. there are several mame cores but since you didn't fill out the details in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first it's difficult to advise.

@johnnyskullhead and in this previous thread for Mame4all!

any help with best application to link PC to Pi

              I use WinSCP and PuTTY.

or just use windows - type //RETROPIE into the computer address bar space to access files.

              Details here:

you need to extract that fullset file on your pc, and place the individual files in that folder. eg /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/mame2003/invaders.zip

sorry, the instructions on the wiki weren't clear in this regard - i've updated them: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/lr-mame2003#samples

that said, it looks like you've run out of space anyway, so you'll need to free up some space on your pi before attempting this.

also, be weary of this post: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/2061/need-guidance-best-mame-emulator-to-use-for-classic-80-s-games/67 - depending on what version you have samples might not work anyway until my fix goes live...
