Hey guys, first post here. have googled this and searched the forum but cant find the answer, so i might aswell ask it here.

Im working on an Spotify port for retropie. it already works as a full screen background mode, but i would like to turn it into an small client also. For this i would need to listen for the controller's input so i can navigate the client.

I am using midori on kiosk mode for this, and i could be using this:

      https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Gamepad_API/Using_the_Gamepad_API

But i feel it would not be as reliable as using the retroarch controller api with the already setup controller config. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to listen for left, right, etc etc? How are ports handling the "listening for controller input" part?
