Speed up games

yes. retroarch has a fast-foward hotkey function. it is not bound in retropie by default but you could via some configuration.

This post is deleted! -
@dankcushions can't find references to fast-forward features tho.. https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/retroarch-configuration#default-joypad-hotkeys
-
@hiru like i said, it's a retroarch feature that's not implemented in retropie (only so many buttons on a controller).
see https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/blob/master/retroarch.cfg#L540
-
@dankcushions guess as a normal user I can't add hotkeys to do that :/
-
@hiru sure you can. https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Configuration-Editor - manual edit function.
-
@dankcushions I went in and enabled that line, but I'm still not seeing any speedup on SNES emulation when pressing space. Are there additional config changes I would need to make to enable it, or is this just a limitation of the hardware of the Raspberry pi? (I have a RP 3 B, by the way)
-
@Isthisariot I would guess you have to hold your hotkey before pressing space. hotkey is assigned to select button by default.
just tried it - works fine on a pi3.
-
@dankcushions so it pretty much works as a Fn key on a classic pc keyboard, right? You have to press Fn and the hotkey you configured for the fast forward
-
@hiru yeah pretty much. select btn + space = fast forward. you can change the buttons for either. you could even have to be select btn + (some other button) like the existing combos: https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/retroarch-configuration#default-joypad-hotkeys
eg, don't see why you couldn't change to select + y btn, as that's not currently used for anything I think.

@dankcushions Oh hell, well now I feel dumb. Thanks for the help, it works like a charm!
