What am I Doing Wrong? Vision-daptor Intellivision Controller

I just got a Vision-daptor and an Intellivision Flashback controller, and looking multiple websites and forum posts, I feel like I've tried everything, but it won't work. Here's what I did:

1. I put the following emulators.cfg into /opt/retropie/configs/intellivision
   jzintv="/opt/retropie/emulators/jzintv/bin/jzintv -v1 --kbdhackfile=/opt/retropie/configs/intellivision/hackfile.cfg -f1 -q -p /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS %ROM%"
   default = "jzintv"
   jzintvecs="/opt/retropie/emulators/jzintv/bin/jzintv -v1 -s1 --kbdhackfile=/opt/retropie/configs/intellivision/hackfile.cfg -f1 -q -p /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS %ROM%"

2. I put this hackfile into /opt/retropie/configs/intellivision
   http://www.intellivision.us/intvgames/interface/hackfile.cfg

3. I have all 4 bios files in the BIOS directory

4. I tried using the Vision-daptor's auto-sense

5. I tried setting the Vision-daptor specifically to Intellivision

6. I rebooted each time, I unplugged everything and left just the VIsion-daptor and my Flashback controller plugged in.

Each and every time it's the same result. Nothing on the controller does anything in Emulation Station's menu. If I connect a Genesis gamepad and go into Las Vegas, the controller does only 1 thing. If I press the 6, it moves from the title screen to the Wallet. Then I get nothing but a couple of keypad numbers making the game beep.

Does anyone have any clues?

Did you upgrade to the latest firmware? You have to do that, because only the latest firmware supports flashback controllers. It may have shipped with the firmware not updated.

for future reference, I've always got great help from the developer. There should be a "contact us" link on the website, as well as the latest firmware and instructions for updating.

@foldi84 are you holding the 0 zero key for 5 seconds while powering in the vision daptor to put it into intellivision fb controller mode?
