Can't run games off usb

Emulationstation won't run the games off USB, it says in the log that it can't find the file or it's running it from wrong directory?

@william88 Give us more details about your system - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first. How did you set up the USB stick ? Did you use the usbromserviceincluded in RetroPie or other method ?

I used the automatic method and I set up the USB stick with the retropie-mount, I am running the latest Retropie on a Raspberry Pi zero v1.3.

Those are not useful informations.
For example the link provided by @mitu (and topping nearly every page of this forum ) states :

RetroPie Version Used (eg 3.6, 3.8.1, 4.1 - do not write latest)
Built From: (Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website, Berryboot, or on top of existing OS etc.. - please provide the filename of any image used)

As there are beta images available now in addition to regular images, those are mandatory points.
Please read this link (again if necessary) and provide us with the requested informations.
You may find a clue about mounting errors in /var/log/messages and can paste relevant log entries here, too .

Error messages received: on some games i get disk read errors in log and others say missing,

It doesn't seem to have changed anything by removing my Hubs, you have any other ideas?

@william88 Unless you provide details of what you are actually doing, it's pointless suggesting anything. If you have removed your hubs which must have been connected via micro-usb, how are you now connecting the usb stick? How were your hubs connected and powered? Which socket were you using? What is an official "3" power supply? Have you read all the threads about people having issues with hubs? And you need to answer @mitu and what about posting whats in /var/log/messagesas advised by @sano?

If you get to try to launch them, the logs at /dev/shm/runcommand.log will help. If not/either way, the logs at /var/log/syslog for that session in particular may also shed some light.

Are you running them from a USB stick or USB hard drive. I use an external 1TB USN hard drive that takes power from the USB port on the Raspberry and works perfectly as its a very very small external hard drive

If running from a USB hard drive, you MUST enable the USB trasnfer option in RetroPie, and once its copied all ROMs onto the hard drive you again MUST disable it. Thsi way RetroPie knows its now running from an external hard drive

Also, it says your running a PiZero. The USB cannot supply much from its USB port so it may be just to much. Try a powered USB hub if you need more ports, BUT a LOT of powered USB hubs back power the Raspberry. Not good practice and its possible it 'may' burn out your PiZero. Doubtful, but a slight chance

I had this issue, so altered the USB hub cable to cut the +5v supply. No more back powered hub

Is there any reason why you are using a PiZero, the B+ is much faster and isn't that much for what it can achieve, unless your cost is a major factor or you are trying to build a portable RetroPie

@steptoe thanks will probably get Raspberry Pi 2 B and see if that helps
