one day maybe Help and Support posts prepopulated from Read This First
-
I was browsing Help and Support and thinking how it could be nice if the Discourse forum software had a feature like github's Issue templates. Those templates pre-populate the body of a new github issue post with the standard information needed to troubleshoot a problem.
In terms of the RetroPie support forum, this is essentially the list of required troubleshooting information found in the middle of the Read This First guidelines. (Pi Model or other hardware / Power Supply used / RetroPie Version Used / Built From / USB Devices connected / etc)
It turns out that Discourse does have this feature, which they call a "Topic Template." I thought I'd share this with the group in case it seems like it would be useful here: https://meta.discourse.org/t/what-are-topic-templates/38295

@markwkidd We are not running discourse - we use nodebb.

Oh lord. Why was I so sure you were on discourse? :-\
Edit: and it doesn't seem like nodebb has this functionality. Maybe one day!

@markwkidd even if we had the template I guarantee you people would still ignore it just like they do the GitHub template.
