Portable GameStation not working with new recalbox-next theme

Hello everyone, I've been using Portable GameStation for a long time now and have updated emulationstation to jrassa builds, up until now all other emulationstation themes have worked.
Since the release last week of the new recalbox-next theme' I decided to try it with the most recent version from jrassa v2.8.0-201846120046

but the theme doesnt load and the log shows some errors:

(from included file "C:/Portable-Game-Station/.emulationstation/themes/recalbox-next/data/iconsets/snes.xml")
Unknown property type "iconUpDown" (for element of type helpsystem).

This gets repeated for all the systems...
I've already updated my es_settings.cfg file with the new values:

<string name="ThemeIconSet" value="1-standard icons" />
<string name="ThemeMenu" value="1-light blue icons" />
<string name="ThemeSet" value="recalbox-next" />
<string name="ThemeSystemView" value="1-vertical left" />

So this looks like the build from march 14 maybe is still behind some of the changes done for the new theme or theme engine

@rubenjavier This is the Retropie forum...not Recalbox.

@rubenjavier Recalbox has its own Emulationstation fork, so the Recalbox themes might not be compatible with the Emulationstation fork used and developed by the RetroPie project. You should get the Windows version of their fork and then try the theme on that build.

I haven't tracked recalbox much since they moved to gitlab. It looks like they recently introduced a bunch of theme changes that are incompatible with RetroPie ES. Going forward, I wouldn't expect recalbox themes to work in RetroPie ES. Even if we wanted to adopt the new features they have introduced, I see that, at least in one instance, they have chosen to take a different incompatible approach to adopting a feature from RetroPie ES.

@jdrassa retropie also has some theming changes that probably don't work with recalbox either

@jdrassa and @herb_fargus , thanks for the info, I did not know that, just thougt that both projects shared the same emulationstation codebase, its a pitty it wont work, the new theme is really versatile.

• Retropie ES doesn't have susbsets management and menus theming
• Recalbox ES doesn't have video/marquee and custom collections
• List of systems is different

Except from that, all other features are more or less compatible but the more each distrib evolves, the more complicated it will be to adapt themes

Thanks thats good to know... maybe I'll stick to manually customize the theme I already have working. Thanks for your themes, they are awesome
