      Hello,

      I just did a bit of research (because my EmulationStation loads slowly) about EmulationStation and how to possibly speed it up.

      I found the EmulationStation Github by Aloshi which has an issue talking about going from XML to an SQLite database for gamelists to speed things up. (https://github.com/Aloshi/EmulationStation/issues/191)

      Now this is all good, but, I noticed that my system doesn't use the SQLite database system, so I did a bit more digging (not much, basically I just looked at the main page for the Github project) and I noticed that it was last updated on March 8, 2015.. I then went to emulationstation.org to see if it had just gone closed source or something like that, but on the site it has the same "latest updated" date (https://emulationstation.org/releases.html).

      So I went to RetroPie of course, as that is what I'm using, as it seems like the system is currently being developed (the github page had a commit yesterday).

      So my question, after all of this, is: Is the EmulationStation project abandoned? and if so, is there a better alternative?

      Thanks for reading all of my post.
      I hope to hear back from some of you intelligent people soon!

        The original Emulationstation project is no longer developed, but the Retropie project uses its own version, copied a long time age from the original and still in active development.

          @mitu

          Ahh cool, yea that is the info I couldn't find ^^

          Is there a github or roadmap or anything for the RetroPie EmulationStation project?
          or do you know if there is any plans to go away from the old xml system of storing game data?

            There have been discussions about it and there is even a branch based on sqlite but it hasn't been adapted yet. Due to potential bugs, nobody has picked it up, etc.
