audio issues with SNES in pi3

I just tested Starfox and get crackling sound in intro of game and of first stage intro. Its just a little bit. One question, do you use audio from HDMI? I use the audio jack, because my monitor don't have built in speaker. Also, look at this site: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Sound-Issues/

@darksavior ok.. heres the thing.. i just got back from the store with my NEW SanDisk 64gb class 10 sd card..... put retro pie on there and just a few snes games and the problem is STILL there....... audio cuts in and out, gets laggy, stutters not just FX games Batman returns for example does this to this is on a PI3 model B ....so i dont know, its not the tv because i even tried with headphones and the issue is still there..... lol wasted $30 hahaha damn...... only thing i could think now is my board is bad??? but then again it would only effect snes..... ill add the audio issues are not constant its random

@thelostsoul try Yoshis island and dont just wait 1 min its VERY random Batman Returns is another one that has lots of crackling oh and Demons Crest i dont have any of these problems with the snes mini on my HDTV and i use a soundbar.... but i have tested out the tv speakers and even plugged headphones into the pi itself.... sometimes the audio is worse then others

@thelostsoul Yes, I use hdmi only. I know the jack might cause some distortion, but I don't believe @lovelorn88 has this problem. The distortion would be nonstop.
@lovelorn88 You never said if you're using a 3rd party image or not. I don't believe the pi's broken. I still suggest you start over with the stretch image https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/16307/retropie-4-3-15-stretch-images-for-testing

@darksavior and what do you mean by a 3rd party image i went to retropies site.... downloaded retropie... flashed it to my sd card.... and just now throw a few snes games on it.... the audio stuttering is still present all my other systems on my pi run just fine though..... my only guess is now its the reaspberry pi i have its self but that doesnt explain why my other systems run great and not snes

I am running it currently. Everything seems perfect. Sorry, but I can't replicate your problem.
Btw, my Starfox problem is solved. I had to disable Rewind function and now the crackling is gone. Damn that function gave me a headache on Mame too... Never use Rewind!Maybe there is something with timing issue with the tv or hdmi? Mind changing the HDMI cable? Or if you can, try a different tv. Maybe try audio jack (you have to tell RetroPie to use audio jack btw), just to eliminate these hardware problems and if it is emulation side. Maybe set on or off V-Sync. What else could it be?
Or the roms are bad. Try to get roms with exclamation mark [!] in filename, becaus those are generally good dumps.

@thelostsoul how many diferent tvs should i try? LOL and hmdis? LOL ive tried 2 different tvs and 2 different hdmis..... and like i said i EVEN redownloaded retropie on another SD..... only thing i didnt do was get A different pi.... are you using Pi3B??? doesnt make anysense why im the only one with this problem... yes yes yes... i tried different roms..... Ive spent HOOOUURRRSSS on this no joke.....

@thelostsoul a vew 32x games do this to... but its a bit different... sounds more of a glitchy sound Metal head on the sega 32x was one of them... but ive never played a 32x before nes is perfect... turbografx and the CD add-on run great hell even ps1 some games on the ps1 i can use the high res mode and it runs fine......

@lovelorn88 I'm about stumped. Only option left is to try another ac adapter. If yours has a switch on it, or if it's not 2.5a, it might be the cause. Phone chargers are not recommended and will cause voltage drops.

@darksavior Ive gone through 2 different power supplys.... first was one that FRYs sold me its from RHINO it was a 5v 2.5a and it would bring the lighting bolt up very often so someone recommended me a 5v 3a power supply and yes this one has a on/off button button but i nolonger have the lighting bolt

@darksavior LOL as I said in the post for this thread u highly doubt anyone will figure out what the issue is..... its to the point now where everyone is pretty mush like HEY did you try this, what about this, hold it high in the air while playing? LMAO i have no clue what it is..... maybe the pi just doesnt like me.... the only thing i have NOT changed hout was the pi itself....... thats really it....

On PSX I had similar issues with crackling sound and the driver change helped a lot. Try to change at /etc/retroarch.cfg or if available in RetroArch menu (hotkey + X):audio_out_rate=44100
audio_driver=sdlFrom that page, here a quote:
"I managed to get perfect sound with retroarch+ lr-snes9x2002 core by defining sdl as the audio backend with 44100 samplerate."
You don't need to use older emulator. I just wanted say these settings might help. -
@thelostsoul do i type up that stuff??? like by pressing F4 at the main menu and type all of that then rebooting??

@lovelorn88 Like I said, you could look in the menu of RetroArch for the emulator. Start the emulator and hit hotkey + X (default is Select + X) and you get to the menu. I am currently backing up the sd card as image file, so I can't say exactly where the options are. Search for settings then look for audio driver and then change it. Not sure where to find the audio out rate.
Otherwise, you could edit the /etc/retroarch.cfg file directly. If you are on the terminal (F4), type
sudo nano /etc/retroarch.cfg
and then you can edit it. But can't recommend it, if you aren't familiar. CTRL+o will save the file I think. And CTRL+x will exit. But before editing, you can do backup of the file, if needed with
cp /etc/retroarch.cfg /etc/retroarch.cfg.bak -

@thelostsoul i am currently in the menu like you said i typed in the sudo nano bla bla bla LOL and it just brings up a blank black creen with on the bottom stating commands nothing in here to change top says GNU nano 2.2.6 BUT there nothing to change,,, am i supposed to just type in that audio out rate 44100???

Im going to be getting another Pi, and i guess ANOTHER power supply even though this new one doesnt give me a lighting bolt at all..... idk, its only with snes.... Ive put a new image on a brand NEW sd card a 64gb Sandisk class 10.... so theres really nothing i could have done wrong here... even though im a noob its still fairly simply especially when following youtube videos like ETM, only other things that i can think of would be get a new pi and power supply, my files are fine

@darksavior ive watched multiple videos on YouTube where they have the lighting bolt on the top right and there games run just fine.... its gotta be the Pi3B...

Oh no sorry. I gave you wrong path. It would be better just to edit snes file. I dont know the path and can later lookup. It should be located in config directory and then under snes folder.
There is a main retroarch.cfg file, which all emulators use, if the settings in their own retroarch.cfg is not set. Each emulator have its own retroarch.cfg configuration file, which is preferrsbly used. So edit the snes audi settings there. I can tell you later the path.
There comes nothing else to my mind.
