[Resolved] 4.4 SSelph Scraper won’t install
-
Hi,
Just setting up a new install with RP 4.4 on a Pi 3B+
When I try to install the scraper, I get the following error;
Error running ‘tar -xv -z -C /opt/retropie/supplementary/golang —strip-components 1’ - returned 2
Click ‘OK’ and get
Unable to install binary for golang
Then
Could not successfully install scraper for EmulationStation by Steven Selph (/home/pi/Retro-Pie-Setup/tamp/build/scraper/scraper not found).
-
The
go
package needed to compile the scraper is not downloading correctly, try again. -
I’ve tried again a couple of times, with no luck.
I also tried installing golang manually, but the scraper install still failed with the same error messages.
-
The error message is generic and doesn't give the actual error cause. All I can say is that I get no error and the scraper installs (using 4.4 version). Do you have enough space left on the sd card ?
-
@andrewh Not exactly what you want to hear but I installed the scraper twice yesterday when I upgraded both of my units to 4.4. It worked fine for me.
-
it's a 32GB card, which has about 17% used so far (still in the early stages of setup)
-
Ok - figured it out - it looks like something associated with the install is on one of the blacklists that Pi-Hole uses (maybe a google API).
I temporarily disabled Pi-Hole and got it to install. Posting here in case anyone else has a similar setup.

@andrewh The Go binary installation is downloaded from https://storage.googleapis.com/, so you might want to whitelist it in your PiHole installation. Glad you got it sorted out.
