      Hello,
      I have a brand new Pi 3B (Not +) and flashed a fresh image of Retropi Deluxe 64GB onto a SanDisk Ultra 128GB microSDXC UHS-I Card and on first boot up I set up my controller. My controller Does have a turbo button, a home button and something else. So, When I select a game and hit start to enter the game, it exits the game. I tried many different games from many different systems. Same result. Even tried to reconfigure the controller. I am guessing due to the extra buttons the config isnt set right.

      Link to the controller I have;
      https://www.amazon.com/Snakebyte-Premium-Wired-Controller-Playstation-3/dp/B00519BF0O

      Before someone says this, I've read through the READ THIS FIRST, and searched the forums. No one has said that they have my specific problem of Start exiting ALL games from ALL systems.

      I am sure its an easy fix, if someone could help point me in the right direction, that'd be amazing! I really want to play these retro games. And if the solution is get a different controller I've already ordered a NES30 Pro wireless one.

      So, what can I do in the mean time to get this controller working properly?

        @g6delta Event though you read the https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first page, you didn't notice we didn't support 3rd party images, use the RetroPie image from https://retropie.org.uk/download if you need support in the forum.
        Having said that, your problem is most likely related on how you mapped the Hotkey button, you should skip mapping the Hotkey key and then choose to use Select as a hotkey.

          @mitu said in Start button alone exits all games:

          you should leave skip it and then choose to use Select as a hotkey

          Could you help me understand what you meant by
          "you should leave skip it and then choose to use Select as a hotkey"

            @g6delta I think it was a typo. You need to remap your controller buttons and make the "Hotkey" button the Select button.

              So edit;
              retroarch.cfg

              where as the button numbers should be;

              input_player1_b_btn = 2
              input_player1_a_btn = 1
              input_player1_y_btn = 3
              input_player1_x_btn = 0
              input_player1_l_btn = 4
              input_player1_r_btn = 5
              input_player1_start_btn = 9
              input_player1_select_btn = 8

              I just actually found this on a different site and wasnt 100% sure what I was reading. So if I mimic these settings for my controller it should solve my issues? Maybe, possibly, hopefully!

                Run Retropie Setup

                Manage Packages -> Core Packages -> emulationstation -> Configuration or
                Configuration / Tools -> emulationstation

                Choose the option to Clear/Reset Emulation Station input configuration

                See this thread if you need more details:
                https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/5069/resetting-controller-configuration/2

                Once that is done you can hold a button on the gamepad at the main menu to map inputs. The hotkey needs to assigned to Select.
