@squilliamfancy You mis-typed the 1st command, dmesg | tail - the character in the middle is a vertical bar symbol, not an l (lowercase L) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vertical_bar. Did you plug your USB stick in the Pi system before running the commands ?

Not the first time. I did it again now after plugging the usb before running the commands and still got the same "No such file or directory"

@squilliamfancy Seems like you mistyped the option -l. As I mentioned in my post above, it's the small letter L.

@squilliamfancy The image is very blurry and it's not clear which is the 1st device listed, seems like /dev/ram1 to /dev/ram18 ? You didn't post the result of the dmesg command, that will help identify why the USB doesn't appear at /dev/sda.

How are you connecting the USB stick ? Are you using a hub or directly plugged into the Pi ?

@mitu I have the usb plugged in directly to the pi and I'm having trouble figuring out what I'm supposed once I put the commands in

@squilliamfancy I don't know if an USB hub will solve your problem, since we don't know what the problem really is. Posting the dmesg messages with a more clearer picture would help.
Just a though, can you get the SD card out of the PI, insert it into your PC - ignore the formatting offer from Windows - and copy the .zip file with the theme on the new boot partition that shows up. Put back the card, then the .zip file should be available in the /boot folder so you can continue installing it from there.

@squilliamfancy Forget the command. From the output of the dmesg command, it seems the USB stick has a strange formatting and this causes the mount command to fail.
I'd advise to format the USB stick on your PC (see https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/format-large-hard-drive-fat-fat32/), so you're starting from a clear point. Copy the zip theme file on the newly formatted stick and try again to follow the original instructions.
Make sure you save what you have now on the stick, since formatting it would erase everything on it.

@squilliamfancy What kind of USB stick are you using and how are you connecting it ? Looking at your recent dmesg output, the only USB device detected seems to be a Microsoft Transceiver - an USB dongle - there's no USB stick detected.

@squilliamfancy Normally it shouldn't be more to do, but as I said, the USB stick doesn't seem to be detected. Maybe the USB port is not connected to the PI's USB port, how did you build the GBA with the Pi ?

@mitu well the thing is I didn't build the pi. I purchased it and it was all complete, I'm afraid of opening it up. Is this the only way to fix the theme issue? Also will reseting it the pi solve the issue aswell or not? Please help. Thank you.

@squilliamfancy In this case, I'm afraid I cannot help you - ask the seller about the schematics used in the build. As per the forum rules, 3rd party images are not supported here and selling RetroPie is against the project's license.
