Arcade - Gamelist - Append only Names?

If I have a gamelist.xml for MAME or FBA with all data I want except for the names, <name>, is it possible to have only the names scraped and appended to it, leaving everything else as is?
I'm wondering becuase without the <name> populated, ES displays the correct game names derived from the rom filenames, but then the video screensaver does not display names for them when the setting is enabled. I'm assuming the screensaver needs the <name> populated in the gamelist.xml to display it.
