Hi I'm following the instructions in the Wiki on running ROMs from a USB drive. After completing all the instructions then doing a restart, everything is now gone from the USB drive and Retropie is no longer in the Emulation Station menu.
I'm running a Pi3 with a fresh 3.8.1 install no overclocking. I've tried this three times already with the same result, any help would be greatly appreciated.

@brice2010 I was using your method but there were recommendations here on the forum not to use this method because you need to change the config file. I'm wondering if part of my problem my be due not using a USB drive but an SD Card plugged into a USB port.

              i guess you followed https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Running-ROMs-from-a-USB-drive ?

              what's the output of df?

if you navigate to your USB driver, what are the contents if you do ls -l ?

what is the output of ls -l /dev/disk/by-uuid/ ?

can you paste the contents of /etc/fstab?
