"network error" windows cannot access \\RETROPIE
-
probably.
I presume the IP address on your network are given by your internet router via DHCP.
So normally, your windows machine should get an IP like 192.168.1.20 and the PI something like 192.168.1.45
The first 3 digits should be the same. The more common situation is that the ip address given to equipments is X.X.X.Y where Y is unique for each equipement and X.X.X are the same.First, check it is the case for the PI and the windows computer.
then, ping the PI address from dos console :
ping 192.168.1.99 for exampleEnvoi d’une requête 'Ping' 192.168.1.99 avec 32 octets de données :
Réponse de 192.168.1.99 : octets=32 temps=5 ms TTL=64
Réponse de 192.168.1.99 : octets=32 temps=11 ms TTL=64(sorry for the french, but you should read "reply from...")
Normally the PI should reply. If not, there is probably an issue with IP configuration.
-
yes you right the first 3 digits IP is the same on my retropie and the IPv4 address.... just the last digit that changes a little.
still same error...any ideas? -
@jborges Can you ping the device? Or log into the router and see if it has the Retropie in the client list. If ''\retropie''doesn't work, try ''\192.xxx.x.xxx'' using the actual IP address of the Pi. If you need a temporary workaround use WinSCP to access the Pi's files and folders.
-
do you want me to ping my IP adress?
-
this issue is not the first time that happend i use to access my PI files before connecting the retropie to the Wi Fi method ...but sometimes work sometimes not, i used to get that same error when using the Pi on wi fi, so thats when i hook my retropie trough a ETHERNET cable cord instead of wi fi so i got no more issues.... and since that it always works perfect when try to access the pi files with a ethernet cord on..... until this just happends again, even know now i use ethernet connection is been 2 days now..idk whats wrong .....
-
@jborges Did you reboot your Pi? I know that sounds silly but I've been having permanent lan connection drops on my 4.4 build and am trying to narrow it down.
-
@thedatacereal
Yes i did... plus i ping my device everything went smooth try to connect by the Pi ip address that shows on retropie instead of //retropie command and still no fix to it.. -
@jborges Try a router reboot.
-
just try it connect via Winscp and still cant connect to my retropie....thats fishy ...the retropie is connected to the network otherwise it wont show it not IP address on the retropie , and my doe just fine.. but anyhow cant get trough it by the pc still....
-
@thedatacereal
still doesnt work my friend... i think is something on the retropie ...idk.......
-
@jborges Did you double check SSH is enabled for the winSCP?
-
@thedatacereal
yes i enable ssh..... did everything right when try to connect to winscp says Host name "name" is not existed .... cant connect......
-
@jborges That error sounds like you tried to connect to \retropie. In winSCP use the IP address of the Pi.
-
does the EAZY HAX TOOLKIT has something to do with this ? any interference ? i expand my Retropie memory to USB using the Toolkit following everything , the files on my usb opens fine and the Retropie files was still opening all fine via LAN, and all of sudden this happend and never come back to normal
-
@thedatacereal
got it i use the ip adress of the pi like you said, now it connects via winscp, so everytime i want to access my PI files like i used to via Lan network , i will have to use winscp until my Lan works again??
and in case i cant connect on winscp always check the SSH enable right.... -
@jborges SSH shouldn't disable itself so you're good on that.
-
On Winscp i seen that cant access/find my Gameslists folder either my xml files and my rom Images like i do on Retropie Via LAN , is that right???? so winscp is like a temporary Access option to the retropie like the roms folder in specific ?!?!?
-
@jborges gamelists are in
/home/pi/.emulationstation
You may need to enable hidden folders in WinSCP
-
I find it ..thanks man.. so i guess winscp is my new way ACCESS to retropie files.. but if works thats what metters thank you.
-
@jborges said in "network error" windows cannot access \\RETROPIE:
yes i did \RETROPIE .....always worked before
but what about
\\RETROPIE
?//retropie
Syntax? Are you actually typing it in correctly? with the correct number of characters as your posts seem to change.
