[Solved] Sega saturn CD+G CHANNEL & Music doesn't work
-
@boltio3 said in Sega saturn CD+G CHANNEL:
And where i should push (Select + X) to insert it?
Once you started the game, your should be able to use the combination to open the RGUI (RetroArch menu).
-
@mitu Hmm, it seems that doesn't work, is RetroArch something related with Raspberry Pi? I'm saying it because i'm using an HP PC with Ubuntu 16.04, so i don't have the retropie in a Raspberry Pi.
I tried to do (Select + X) with the keyboard and a PS3 Controller, but it doesn't open any menu.
-
@boltio3 RetroArch is what powers all the lr- emulators. You should be able to know if you're using RetroArch if you see some yellow text at the bottom-left when starting a game.
-
@supercatfooz Yes i see it sometimes, normally it says that it detects the PS3 Controller or something like this.
Other times have said "No bios found, add for better compatibility" (This was in PSX, but i've solved it)Is there any other form to open that menu?
-
@boltio3 The BIOS you have is the wrong one. I just checked a few and compared the hashes.
The one that matches the one required bylr-Yabause
comes in a zip calledSega Saturn BIOS v1.00 (1994)(Sega)(JP)(M6).zip
So obtain this BIOS and extract it , rename it then add to the BIOS directory in RetroPie.~/Desktop$ md5sum saturn_bios.bin af5828fdff51384f99b3c4926be27762 saturn_bios.bin
This matches the MD5SUM listed in the docs.
-
@boltio3 When the game is starting, if I push any button it opens a kind of menu that let me change the emulator, and other options, two of them are:
- "Edit custom RetroArch config for this ROM"
- "Select RetroArch render res for lr-yabause (config)
I don't know if this can be useful.
-
@jonnykesh Ok, can you tell me where can i download that zip?
I have found one called like this, i will try it. -
@boltio3 Ehhh, nope. BIOS files are as copyrighted as the games, unfortunately.
You're gonna have to get searching. -
@jonnykesh I have tried this BIOS, and it haven't changed nothing, it doesn't work (I've renamed to "saturn_bios.bin").
So it isn't for the BIOS. -
@boltio3 Well, that's not to say you weren't having 2 (or more problems).
The correct BIOS is the one that I obtained and checked the hash sum of. As I said this is the one you need according to the docs.
What format are your games iniso
,bin/cue
?
Have you successfully launched any Saturn games? Your OP is a bit unclear.
Why are you so sure the ROM files aren't the problem? -
@jonnykesh I have like 30 (1 for each rom) folders and every folder have some .mp3, one .iso file and one .cue file. (Other ones have .wav files and .srm files, but always there is one .iso and one .cue)
So i have this folders in the folder "saturn" that it is for the ROMS, and when i select one rom from this list, it doesn't start the game at that point, it takes to me to another list of roms but there only appear the rom that i selected before and then I open that rom and it starts the game, but then it goes to that Saturn menu where it saids "Set CD+G Channel" and the other options that you know.
Well.. give me a second and I'll upload some photos about that. And well, i'm not so sure about the ROM files aren't the problem, maybe there are, but i just have the feeling that they aren't the problem.
Anyway I'll try to find other ROM's and see what happends.

@jonnykesh And don't you thing that maybe i need a RAM cartridge or something like this?
-
@boltio3 Not sure. Can you please upload the pictures directly to the forum and not to a TP site.
-
@jonnykesh It's gyazo.com, but ok, i'll do that.
-
@boltio3 Here's an article about the RAM cart, https://segaretro.org/Extended_RAM_Cartridge
-
This post is deleted! -
@boltio3 I know what it is and most people don't like being directed to TP sites in order to provide assistance. All the relevant info should be posted directly.
It also means if someone searches the forum at a later date with a similar issue then all the info is available. -
-
@jonnykesh I did a fast read to https://segaretro.org/Extended_RAM_Cartridge, and for what i understanded, only the games that appears there need a RAM cartridge, so the Sonic R should work, but it doesn't.
