Pi Model or other hardware: RPi 3 B
    Power Supply used: 2.1A
RetroPie Version Used (eg 3.6, 3.8.1, 4.1 - do not write latest): 4.4.2
    Built From: PINN
    USB Devices connected: Keyboard
Controller used: Xbox One S Wireless (model 1708)
    Error messages received: None
    Guide used:

    Emulator: Any
Gamepad works ok while using it wired, but in wireless mode it works only in emulation station and moonlight. Also the strange thing is that control config recognises triggers as buttons in wired mode, and recognises as it should be in wireless

The xpad driver should be updated from the RetroPie setup menu, but update the script itself before. Also, I don't think there is a version 4.4.2 yet, do you - by any chance - have version 4.2.4 installed ?

Could you try an official 4.4 image from the retropie.org.uk/download and see if you get the same behavior ?
