Sporatic Error Issues on Retropie

Pi 3B+
Official 4.4 Updated up to a couple of weeks back
Official Power Supply
Samsung Evo 64 Sd card
Kingston HyperX USB for Roms & Gamelists
Only applications installed are through the Retropie Setup options. (Emulators & Kodi)I've been getting weird issues over the last couple of months. The first was permanent Ethernet disconnects. Now I'm coming home to Emulation Station having crashed or a black screen. It wasn't every day, but way too often. I can't usually ssh in to check statuses because of the disconnects. It almost looks like there's a problem with the USB but it's always been my best drive for storage and transfers, although it's several years old and maybe being always on is showing its age.
Today the Pi is at the pi@retropie prompt and the following error is at the top :
0_1531177486097_IMG_20180709_190251.jpg )
Anyone have any ideas? This build is a few months old as I decided to use the USB instead of just the SD card this time around and this is the first build I have had issues with. So I can't narrow down if it's been going on since the build or the USB change.
The Pi is overclock for graphics but I didn't see a need to touch the CPU for the latest model. It works like a champ for playing roms,N64, streaming local media, etc, it's just when I randomly come home from work ( or maybe in the morning but I never check it as I am getting ready for work).
Thank you

Hi.
Can you try to do a verification of the partitions of your sdcard with gparted?
Some time ago I had similar problems and the result was that the memory card reached its final life cycle, this card is now in a read-only state -
From the looks of it, could it be that the USB drive hibernates or falls asleep? What does
cat /var/log/syslog
show when it crashes? You might be able to ssh into the pi and run it then, or you can always run it in the following session.

@pjft Thanks, I'll try it today and let you know.
