Setting up soundfonts for dosbox?
-
I noticed a tutorial video on youtube (
Also, I've heard alot about using munt for mt-32 emulation in scumm and other dos games.
I also read that scumm has this built in nowadays, but would it be of any use for my (mt-32 compatible) dosbox games? I followed a guide on this too from here on the forums: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/12549/tutorial-installing-munt-mt-32-emulation-on-rpi-3/9 but got stuck when checking that the mt-32 driver had installed - it didnt show up. (my specific output from aconnect -o after running through steps 1-14 from that thread's guide is as follows:pi@retropie:~ $ aconnect -o client 14: 'Midi Through' [type=kernel] 0 'Midi Through Port-0' client 128: 'TiMidity' [type=user,pid=577] 0 'TiMidity port 0 ' 1 'TiMidity port 1 ' 2 'TiMidity port 2 ' 3 'TiMidity port 3 '
It shows no sign of mt-32 which the guide suggests it should do after compiling and installing the driver. :(
In short, I guess my question is - In 2018, are soundfonts still a thing to consider or are most built in? and if so - what would be the community's suggested soundfonts to use? the SonatinaSymphonicOrchestraSF2 soundfont zip from the tutorial video now seems to be split into an individual file for each instrument in the symphonic orchestra (rather than just one file encompassing the whole orchestra - as seen in the video) so its left me pretty confused.
Sorry for the amateur hour.
If anyone has any good advice I'd be very grateful, thankyou. -
please ignore/delete this thread (sorry) it seems I've worked it all out using SGM-V2.01.sf2 and i'm cool with that. Apologies for wasting anyones time.
