      @scrappbrapp

The state of N64 emulation in general is that many different combinations of emulators and plugins produce better behavior in some games than in others. Glide is indeed the optimal choice on most games, mostly for it's speed, but it will always produce some downright bizarre effects in certain games. Work is being done on many fronts to create a more reliable N64 emulator, but as it stands, the options currently found in RetroPie are all needed at different times and are many times not even enough to play the entire library.

Please update RetroPie-Setup and mupen64plus. Mupen64plus was updated yesterday and should run better now. There were so much changes last month which should improve speed and compatibility.

The huge gray "fog of war" glitch is solved.

I figured as much. I know that n64 is possibly the poster child when people use the word "experimental" but I was surprised to not see anything mentioned lately about the recent glitchyness of glide, when it seemed to be the choice to use currently. I just wanted to throw that out there incase it was flying under the radar.

          Thanks again for the post.

I'm actually doing a retropie update as we speak. I told it to "update all" as I'm assuming that will catch the mupen64 update, or do I need to further dig and specifically update mupen64?

You can use update all. To be honest i do not use this option often. If the whole system runs fine I just update emulators which could benefit from an update. Never change a running system ;-).

Thank you @gizmo98 . After this time I'll stop this silliness and just focus on emulator updates. (I backed up last night, so I must just be feeling frisky.)

@gizmo98 , one other thing.... When I go to "update packages" for updating specific emulators, whats the difference between "update from binary" and "update from source" ?

I never know which to choose, I usually go for Binary.

The "binary" is the last compiled stable version, whereas the "Source" contains the absolute latest software changes as they are introduced.

Edit: The binary install is also faster, as it doesn't have to be compiled first.

@mediamogul also, using source requires compilation of the code by your Raspberry Pi, which can take a long time indeed on the larger emulators. The binaries are pre-compiled, hence far quicker to install.

I was all excited to show my girlfriend how I got N64 all set up in RetroPie, and do you know what the first thing she asked me was?

"That's nice. Do you have Pokémon Snap on there?"

                              My eye started twitching.

I went through all my install/setup/overclock/tweak troubles specifically for N64, and the first thing My girlfriend said was "Wheres Inspector Gadget for SNES?" At least yours plays the N64.

I'm just gonna build her a Pi Zero and tell her to go away.....

holy cow!!!! Hydro Thunder works now!!!!! Does anyone know this???

Still no Rogue Squadron, or Stunt Racer it seems though.....

EDIT: Wait.... stunt racer is loading up the menu.... Maybe its gonna work.... I switched to Rice.

I'll have to tinker with Rogue Squadron in a second as well....

I have not tested stunt racer but rogue squadron does not run rudimentary with any video plugin. I would be glad if you find any good setting.

I got through a buggy rogue squad menu system, but then crashed to retropie... Stunt racer starts to load menu, but never does.... At least Hydro Thunder now works.

Honestly, half the fun is getting it all to work :)

I spent hours getting all these old dos games to work on my tablet, and mapping mouse controls to a gamepad for 1st person shooters... when it was all said and done, playing the games had less "replayability" than the excitement of setting it all up and making it work the way I wanted it to! Haha...

Tell me about it.... after trudging through over a 1000 SNES games, trying to clean up all the BAD stuff (I got down to 223, and still need to go back over.) I sat around bored like.... "what do I do now? I dont wanna play any of these games."

I got 800 n64 games down to 100, and now Im working on NES, but at 1000 again, I'm just mass selecting and deleting whatever I dont have first hand memories of as a kid.
