I'm going to be on a business trip this coming week so my time for MAME ROW will be limited. What did you nerds decide you want to do next week? ;)

I suggest a poll between the top 5 or top 10 most visited MAME ROWs, and maybe we could even play two or three games and have a little tournament where not only the winner gets cudos but maybe a points system like - 5 points for #1, 2 points for #2 and 1 point for #3 or something like that.

So the non-winners also have a chance of getting an honorable mention?

Oh, and maybe it could run for 2 weeks instead of just 1? Give people more time to participate?

I like the idea of a Tournament with points. How about playing 3 different "non complex" games and merging all 3 points together to a single big one? Off course in this case we need games where the points are comparable then or a multiplier to bring them to same level. I am against taking the "most visited" games, as there was a time with more players and a time where less was available (just my opinion).

I played around in Gimp to create an image related to MAME ROW and this event somehow.

                  1. I revisited all MAME ROW pages and made a list of the romnames which was played.
                    MAME ROW romlist 99 games
                  2. Then I wrote a simple script for my Ubuntu PC to copy images for all these games in the list. The image source is a folder with MAME EXTRAs, which I got somewhere. It is a folder with subfolders like flyers, snap etc. I have 2 scripts, one which gets all images for all folders you define in the script and the other one only gets first found image and skips the other folders. Missing files are added manually through web search.
                    getextras_single.sh
                    getextras_all.sh
                  3. Then I loaded all images in Gimp and played and experimented a little bit to create something. Here is what I got so far:

This subforum could easily be renamed to Discovery Channel. :D

@thelostsoul I would like to suggest a "fix" on that wording:

Let's discover and play new old Arcade games...

                    :D

...or maybe new old Arcade games? :)

@meleu @AndersHP Good idea. A little, but important detail. Here is the new version with better readable text too.

What will we do this week?
