Game of the Month - Rules and Guidelines
-
@lilbud Suggestions for the OP text in the "selection rules":
- You can pick any game (including arcade ones), as long as it can be played on RetroPie.
- Try to avoid shoot'em ups, we already have many of them on MAME ROW.
- Picking a game that has RetroAchievements can increase the number of participants. Also you can choose a challenging achievement as the GOTM challenge.
- If nobody complete the challenge, we'll get some suggestions and set a poll.
And in the "game rules":
- The game needs to be playable on RetroPie but can be played on any platform that you have access to the game on. (Hell, if you are old and have the game on the original system, by all means play it that way.
- No cheats/game genie/game shark
- Screenshot must be posted to certify completion claim
- If the selected challenge is a RetroAchievement, the record on the RetroAchievements website will suffice as proof (if you're not a RetroAchievements user then you need a screenshot/photo)
-
@meleu said in RetroPie GOTM Rules:
If the selected challenge is a RetroAchievement, the record on the RetroAchievements website will suffice as proof.
Since not everyone uses retroachievements, the requirement is optional. A screenshot is required.
-
@lilbud sure! It's optional.
Also, a list of GOTM topics with links would be cool
-
@lilbud I've highlighted some items on my post above with the suggestions. See if you agree ;-)
-
@meleu I already updated the original post a few hours ago
-
@lilbud OK, let me highlight them here.
I would like to suggest the replacement of
-
"as long it can be emulated in some form" with "as long it can be played on RetroPie". Because it is a RetroPie GOTM, isn't it?
-
"Can be played on any platform that you have access to the game on" with "The game needs to be playable on RetroPie but can be played on any platform that you have access to the game on". Same reason above.
-
"If game have achievements, the achievement you get for beating the game will suffice as proof. (Finish the game, beat final boss, etc.)" with "If the selected challenge is a RetroAchievement, the record on the RetroAchievements website will suffice as proof (if you're not a RetroAchievements user then you need a screenshot/photo)". Because there are more cheevos than finish the game or beat final boss.
-
-
@meleu NOW its updated correctly
-
This sounds like a cool idea!
-
5/23/18 - I updated the rules with some clarifications and cleaned up the rules.
-
I probably would have played these challenges earlier, but I thought RetroAchievements/cheevos was a must have. I have disabled cheevos, because I experienced some sort of problems (not to be discussed here, I even don't remember what the problem was). Is a screenshot (or a short video of that scene) enough, without cheevos enabled?
-
@thelostsoul While cheevos are nice to have. You absolutely don't need retro achievements to participate. If you don't do that, then you'll need to post a screenshot of you completing the challenge.
