    Hi everyone,

I've read pages and pages about the same troubleshooting but i can't get it work. I'm on retropie XXX.
If i plug my RP3B+ to my DVI monitor i get a NO SIGNAL and black screen. If i unplug the HDMI/HDMI cable + HDMI/DVI adaptator, i get CABLE DISCONNECTED.
It has been working for few hours with red dots, and it stopped working when i tried with others hdmi cable (might be hotswap but i don't remember)

    What works:

    • RB3B+ HDMI to "hdmi TV 1 and 2" and "hdmi monitor 2" with CABLE A (HDMI/HDMI)
    • Laptop/Computer with CABLE A+DVI adaptator (HDMI/DVI-D) to "my DVI-D monitor 1 and 2"

    What doesn't work:

    • RP3B+ HDMI to DVI-D on Dvi-D monitor 1 and 2

I've tried all the stuff with config.txt, tvservice etc.. nothing has change.

Is it possible that the failure comes from the RP3B+ hardware ?

    Thanks for your help

That's the version of your kernel, not the RetroPie version - which you can see when starting the RetroPie-Setup script, at the top. Your problem seems to be related to cables and converters, not to the PI.

          The RetroPie Project, https://retropie.org.uk
SuPreMe BuiLd PI 2/3/3+ V2, by RéGaLaD & We're Dirty Gaming
          Is that the version ?

The cable are working great on other devices. If i use the same cable + converter from my laptop to the same screen it is working perfectly.

@fremic We don't support 3rd party images and what you described is not a RetroPie version. Either way, if you need to support here you should be using the RetroPie image supplied at https://retropie.org.uk/download.

@fremic Sometimes adapters mess up the hdmi auto detection of the supported video mode(s). You can try to force a specific mode by editing the file /boot/config.txt. See here for the video-related options:

                https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/configuration/config-txt/video.md

For example, you can try to set hdmi_safe to "1" to boot in a safe mode, or you can mess with the variables that are listed under the entry for hdmi_safe in the above link.
