    Hello I have downloaded and installed reicast on my RetroPie but cannot run any games on it, I am able to run +START REICAST and manage my memory cards but that is all. The issue I have is when I select the games to run they show the screen asking about loading and *pressing a button to configure but than the screen goes black then the dreamcast folder appears again. I do not have my Pie overclocked. I have a Raspberry Pi 3 B+ and retropie is version 4.2.2 I think. My controller is an official Xbox 360 wired controller. The games I am working on running are sonic adventure 1 and 2(I believe these can be run well on retropie). I have not setup up my controller specifically for REICAST but it works in the +START REICAST section. I installed retropie downloaded from this site 3-4 years ago and have updated everything today. I checked for a crash log and the folder specified is empty. I can see part of an error message when running sonic adventure but it is obscured. I am using a power supply plugged into my surge protector and have had no issues with it before.
    -I hope this is clear enough and thanks.

      @kwjamesblond The log file for the error should be in /dev/shm/runcommand.log, can you upload the file to pastebin.com ?
      How did you update your installation ? The recommended way to install on a 3B+ is to use a new install with the 4.4 image.

        90% chance it's bad disc images... have you ever successfully run them before?

          So the rom files are probably bad? I have not run them before so I would not know for sure.

            Are your bios in the bios/dc folder? They used to be placed directly in the bios folder but are now in bios/dc.

            Edit: Re-reading I'm like 86% sure this is your issue. That error is probably saying you don't have a bios file in the right spot.

              can't say for sure, but viewing the /dev/shm/runcommand.log like mitu said should tell you... definitely something to check for

                  You'll have to get the file after the game is run and while RetroPie is running, because /dev/shm is actually a memory mapped folder. Stopping RetroPie would just wipe out its contents (because it's in memory and not on disk), so use SSH to get the file from the RetroPie system.

                  EDIT: I assume you've read the Docs for the Reicast emulator and have the proper BIOS files in place.

                    @mitu
                    I did a quick google search on the error message and I am getting the same error posted in this previous retropie forum post. Previous Post the number after line 88 is 2185 on mine not 1765 like in the other post.

                      pretty sure he said he can run the bios correctly with the +start reicast script, so it's not that

                        Does Reicast even work on the retropie? What are the original names for the bios and flash files? Is there a best way to copy the files over, I just copied them in Ubuntu?
                        I got ecco the dolphin to work but not sonic

                          if you got ecco to work, then its almost definitely a problem with the sonic files, the bios is fine.
