Deleted, as it seems to be an issue here.

I accidentally clicked on Spam the first time I opened the dialog for reporting. Sorry for this.
I think the guy in this posting have a good point, the wiki does point to those games. But having them ready for download on the forum, I am not sure if Nintendo would like it. The reputation of this forum could change and people misunderstanding this posting (even if its allowed) could start creating posts with downloads, with different excuses. -

Also, the Game & Watch "roms" aren't really roms per se, as they're more like faithful recreations.

@maplestory what is the licence for the files you linked ? If they are public domain, they are ok.

@thelostsoul you have to be careful with marking something as spam. My first account got permanently banned because someone hit the spam button.

@edmaul69 It was by accident and I am really sorry for this. When I opened the dialog for the first time, I accidentally clicked on it and could not change it back.

A few years ago, someone made a faithful recreation of metroid 2 with 16-bits graphic (it was probably long before nintendo started working on the 3ds remake), nintendo forced the author to delete it. I think the same apply to any "faithful recreation" of game&watch game, perhaps it would be different if it was less faithful (only keeping level design ?) because i think the main issue is copyrighted characters.

That was definitely the reason. The same scenario has occurred quite a few times over the years, involving many different companies. I love a really good fan recreation, such as AirWalk Studio's 'Fix-it Felix Jr.' for example. However, the unpleasant fact remains that, even if they don't use the original code or assets, they're still infringing on trademarked characters and as a result are very much illegal. I've always seen the linking the Game&Watch recreations as being a big liability for RetroArch, but I suppose the gamble is that Nintendo won't bother to protect infringements related to the LCD titles.
One particular project that I hated to see shut down was an HD fan recreation of 'Mortal Kombat Trilogy' for MUGEN. Especially since Midway's own HD remake of the first three games was scrapped as well. It's off topic, but worth sharing Midway's leaked photos, as they're pretty impressive. They had actually completed filming most, if not all of the characters before pulling the plug.
