@tdelios if you go into /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg you can either delete the unwanted consoles or you can put a  on the line below it. If you dont want the retropie settings to show up use the info above. I would not delete retropie out of it. Also remember not to remove the first lines and the last line of the file.

Maybe it's safer to do as suggested on the wiki: delete the unwanted folders or move them to an unused folder.
[EDIT: with "safer" I mean "keep inexperienced users away from corrupting the es_systems.cfg"]

@meleu for me personally i have to edit the es_systems.cfg anyways because i refuse to have the systems in alphabetical order. I sort them by manufacturer and oldest to newest. Consoles first, then arcade, then computers. For my intellivision flashback pi it boots to intellivision first. For playstation pi it boots playstation first. With nes cart....

@dankcushions when you say the latest version doesn't show any emulators on the main screen before you add the games to their folders.. are you talking about the current release that is out now or the upcoming RetroPie 4.0 release that I saw in a YouTube video?

@edmaul69 I'm assuming that I have to use the Terminal to get to the es_systems.cfg to edit it? Or can get to the file for editing under one of the settings menu options?

@tdelios terminal or the way way easier way and sftp into it with a computer with a program like winscp (winscp) if you use windows

@tdelios The version that is out now (installed it myself on Saturday). It only shows systems that I have ROMs in.

AFAIK you need the terminal or SSH into the box to edit es_systems.cfg
The Wiki is very helpful ;)

This is what I do, just make an unused folder in the rom directory and move all the unused folders in there.

I would recommend the 4.0rc1 release as you can remove emulators you don't want and then just keep the ones you keep up to date. No manual editing of anything.

thanks for your feedback.. I re-installed and tested the theory about putting roms in the folder using my usb and that worked..

but out of the box, it comes pre-installed with:
Scrumm VM, Infocom, Amiga, Dreamcast, Macintosh, MSDos, Ports

How do I remove them? Same way?

@BuZz How do I get my hands on 4.0 download.. can't find a link for it so that I can try it out.

ohhh baby! that 4.0 is awesome.. a lot cleaner interface than that of the 3.x version.
