Game of the Month 1 Year Retrospective
-
Hello all,
In a few days, the game of the month feature will celebrate it’s 1 year anniversary.

noise makers blaringSo this post will act as a lookback/discussion of the feature.
October 2017 was Mario 64, which didn’t work that well because it is an N64 game, and those don’t work well on RPI.
I also want to announce a few things going forward with this.
-
The art packs are essentially gone, I made the decision to stop making them and focus more on the post and featuring the game. They may make a return, but for now they are done.
-
Going forward; I’m going to start featuring games from other systems, (ones that don’t support retroachievements) though still playable on the pi.
-
Nintendo DS and PS1 games are among the systems now able to be selected for the game of the month feature. (Still no arcade games allowed because of the existing MAME ROW feature, don’t wanna step on any toes. :) )
-
Games without retroachievements can also be selected.
My reasoning for choosing non-cheevos games and systems is that there are alot of games I enjoy or remember and would like to feature them. But couldn’t until now due to the lack of cheevos.
If a game without achievements is featured, there will be no challenge other than play the game and discuss it.
Many of you may have noticed that there haven’t been polls for the last few months. Mainly because not many people participated that month (That isn’t against anyone, probably my fault for picking a not so interesting game.) So those are also coming to an end. At the end of the month, I’ll take suggestions and pick my favorite out of those given.
Okay, time to end this post, it’s getting to be college-essay length.
That should cover the housekeeping aspect of this, I have a really fun game in mind for October. That post will go up sometime monday or tuesday morning.
If anyone wants to say anything about the feature, post below.

I find it good that it gets a bit more open and less strict than before. Since I started my RetroPie project, I did not really play much and when I did, I was very busy with those titles. But I am at a point where I start playing and looking for threads like these, to participate and discuss with others.
