You'll be up and running in no time. Can't wait to try it out. May not get chance tonight though :(

Mmm getting input lag with this arcade stick. Noticed it straight away. Not sure what I can do resolve it. My wired buffalo usb pad is fine with the same games :(
-
Have you tried using it cabled for comparison?
Might be worth checking the firmware:
http://www.8bitdo.com/fc30joystick/Firmware.htmlI'll have to find mine to try it out as well.
You may also want to try posting here:

Yeah tried it wired as well. It's like it's missing inputs. So for example on the punisher I can keep tapping the button and it will only throw a couple of punches then pause. Wired buffalo pad it is the full registered combo.
Joystick works fine in menus and button presses are fine. I've not checked the firmware yet. Just plug it into my laptop and update?

I just checked my notes and it seems that Bluetooth with at least firmware 1.41 should work much more reliably.
I connect using the Mode 1 Joystick mode. -
Ok mate I'll update the firmware tomorrow night and check again.
Cheers.

I connect using the Mode 1 Joystick mode.If the firmware update doesn't help later is there anything else I can maybe try? A config tweak or something?
Also for mode 1 it's just hold home button down for 3 secs isn't it?
-
If the firmware doesnt help, you could see if you could shorten the length of the usb cable, or email 8bitdo.com support directly, they are often very helpful. Or at least post on their forums anyway. I found the firmware fix did it for me.
Yes, Mode 1 is just hold Home for 3 secs:

Cheers mate. I posted on their forums earlier today.
-
@addyb what games/system are you using it on?
-
Just tried mame and a few games.
Splatterhouse, the punisher and battle circuit so far. -
Updated to 1.42 fw. I was on 1.41
Lag still present:( -
Thats weird, it sorted it for me.
Try emailing 8bitdo confirming the controller model and firmware used.Is it still skipping inputs as you mentioned before?
-
Will do mate. Thanks for the advice so far. I'm pretty gutted right now ;(
-
I think it's sorted. Reset my stick and paired it and then quit to terminal and did this:
sudo nano /etc/udev/rules.d/10-local.rules
I then added this line
SUBSYSTEM=="input", ATTRS{name}=="8Bitdo SFC30 GamePad Joystick", MODE="0666", ENV{ID_INPUT_JOYSTICK}="1"
Restarted emulationstation and now it seems to work fine with no lag I can see :)
-
Thats great news! Nice one!
I forget which version of RetroPie you are using, but it should add that line for you automatically in the Bluetooth menu now.
-
Seriously looking online that was the last throw of the dice. Maybe the Bluetooth connection went buggy for some reason on first setup. Can't explain it. Anyway it seems to be sorted. Phew!!!
