I am new to raspberry pi. I have a 3B+. I have successfully run retropie on it but I haven't run any games yet. I can't figure out how to get my ROMs on the same memory device that I burn the disc image to. No matter how big a storage device I use, after burning the disk image it says it's only about a gig total, with most of that being taken up by the data I just burned to it. So it seems like there's no room for my ROMs. I haven't seen this issue discussed in any of the tutorials I've read so I think I'm just missing some piece of information so common it's assumed everyone knows it. Thanks in advance to anyone that replies.

You need to ftp them over. The roms are on a seperate partition that's probably not visible in windows. I think there's information on the wiki that tells you how to transfer roms over.

so the rest of the memory will show up as available in the Raspberry Pi? And do you mean I need to transfer the files through the internet? Or would connecting my pie to my Windows PC with an ethernet cable work? As I said I'm a noob.

@kiesowingme4 not sure about ethernet, i'm guessing if it connects and it has an ip address I don't see any reason why you can't connect to it in the same way. I just find it easier over wifi (I have the rpi 3, but you can connect with a dongle). I have my collection of roms stored on my onedrive and I sometimes use my phone to do the transferring of roms through es file explorer.
