Amiga emulator
-
Hello all,
I'm trying to install Amiga emulators but I have some question, just to avoid doing anything bad.
Here is my config:
Pi Model or other hardware: 3B+
Power Supply used: external 5V/12V (3A)
RetroPie Version Used: 4.4.2
Built From: (from https://retropie.org.uk/download/): retropie-4.4-rpi2_rpi3.img.gz
USB Devices connected: Xin-Mo USB encoder
Controller used: Xin-Mo USB encoder
Error messages received: No file to load (in the whdload autobooter)
Guide used: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Amiga/ then https://github.com/midwan/amiberry/wiki/Using-Amiberry-WHDBooter-with-RetroPieWhich emulator is the best/simplest ? Amiberry ?
Which extention is correct for the game ? I suppose ".LHA".I have installed Amiberry from source. I see the "+Start Amiberry" option in the Amiga menu.
I downloaded and copied kick file into the BIOS but not sure to have the correct files. For instance, I have downloaded this one "Kickstart v1.2 rev 33.180 (1986)(Commodore)(A500-A2000)[!].rom".
I Downloaded a game (SteelFortress.lha), and put it into the roms/amiga directory.
When I lanched this game, I see a AmiBerry logo then a the "Amiberry whload autobooter" screen.
After that, this autobooter try to locate (scanning whdloadgame) files but after that I have "No slave files identidied" and "No file to load".
Black screen after that.So I tried many othe games with the same issue.
However, in this configuration, the Toki.adf is working perfectly but not the Superfrog with many disks. I have this message after the intro "Please insert Disk 1 and press fire" but nothing else.
May be, I'm close to succeed. Could anybody help me ?
Maybe, do I do something wrong. Thanks a lot.

I had similar issues at the start, the below video was helpful for me. LHA is the right extension, I believe you can keep them as a .zip as well. My issues were mostly around the correct kickstart file(s) and getting the right amiga system selected.

Excellent ! Thanks a lot. I will see that and I will tell you...

@box4me According to the Amiberry wiki:
Files supported by the Amiberry WHDLoad booter are the 'pre-installed' WHDLoad games.
I suspect the game you have,
SteelFortress.lha
, is not pre-installed and therefore not compatible. -
It's possible my game is not compatible. Could you give me name of one that would be ?
-
SSI's AD&D Pools of Darkness ;)
-
Oki, I'm going to try it...
-
Is there a list of the pre-installed games?
-
@Apekop123 It is possible to install your own game using WHDLoad installs if you already have the games on disk. There are tutorials available online, for example (I think) here: http://guide.abime.net/wb3.1/chap11.htm

Unfortunatly, This is not yet good.
I'm going to check all my kickstarts files (ref here https://github.com/midwan/amiberry/wiki/Kickstart-ROMs-(BIOS).
First, I downloaded and copied these good files (CRC ok) into /home/pi/Retropie/BIOS:
Kickstart v3.1 rev 40.68 (1993)(Commodore)(A1200).rom 1483a091 / 1d9aa278
Kickstart v1.3 rev 34.5 (1987)(Commodore)(A500-A1000-A2000-CDTV).rom c4f0f55f
Kickstart v1.2 rev 33.166 (1986)(Commodore)(A1000).rom TBC
Kickstart v3.1 rev 40.60 (1993)(Commodore)(CD32).rom 1e62d4a5
CD32 Extended-ROM rev 40.60 (1993)(Commodore)(CD32).rom 87746be2Then, I created these links (after copying files into /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS):
kick33180.A500 Kickstart v1.2 rev 33.180 (1986)(Commodore)(A500-A1000-A2000).rom
kick34005.A500 Kickstart v1.3 rev 34.5 (1987)(Commodore)(A500-A1000-A2000-CDTV).rom
kick37175.A500 Kickstart v2.04 rev 37.175 (1991)(Commodore)(A500+).rom
kick39106.A1200 Kickstart v3.0 rev 39.106 (1992)(Commodore)(A1200)[!].rom
kick40063.A600 Kickstart v3.1 rev 40.63 (1993)(Commodore)(A500-A600-A2000)[!].rom
kick40068.A1200 Kickstart v3.1 rev 40.68 (1993)(Commodore)(A1200).rom
kick40068.A4000 Kickstart v3.1 rev 40.68 (1993)(Commodore)(A4000).romBut I have the same issue when the WHDload Autobooter scanning files. So I'm going to continue to look at the video...
If anyone has a good idea, thanks a lot...
