No wifi networks shown on 4.4
-
Recently purchased a Pi3b+ and got the Raspbian up an running fine with wifi connected. Purchased CanaKit from Amazon. Moved on and installed Retropie 4.4 and it will not detect any wifi networks in range. I'm trying to get the drivers for a PS3 controller installed so I can use it wireless. I've watched numerous videos with all the same results. Searched here and found 1 similar issue on 3.7 but I'm not sure he even got resolution to the issue.
Why would wifi work with Raspbian and not Retropie? Have I missed a step somewhere.
FYI...completely new to programming and Pi. Bought this for retrogaming exclusively after seeing it online.

The 3B+ model has a mandatory setup before setting up the Wifi - you need to set up your country using
raspi-config
. This is detailed in the 4.4 announcement - https://retropie.org.uk/2018/04/retropie-4-4-is-released/. -
@mitu Yes, and I have done those steps in Raspbian as well. Country, time zone, keyboard type, etc. Wifi connects fine on Raspbian. The network list shows many wifi networks in my area to select from. However, Retropie doesn't list any in the setup menu. Is there a config for Retropie as well?

@RZR77 RetroPie is running on Raspbian, so there's no difference between them in this regard. Can you post the contents of your
/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf
file ? Can you run asudo rfkill unblock all
before trying to configure Wifi again ? -
I am running RetroPie on a separate SD card from Raspbian

What I mean is that RetroPie is based on the Raspbian (lite) image. I imagine you are running them separately, I wasn't suggesting to install it on your Raspbian card (though it's possible).

Not sure what changed, but I went through the WiFi configuration again and it worked this time.
