Setting up controllers on the RetroPie
-
Hey guys,
I’ve run into an issue that I’ve noticed specifically with the Drastic (Nintendo DS) and PlayStation 1 emulators.
I’ve got a PS4 DualShock Controller that I set wired to these emulators but noticed at times I reset, occasionally the controller is no longer programmed. It seems like the biggest change is the joystick number I’m guessing, JS0 to JS1 and vice versa.
Is there a way to set the PS4 controller to not reset and stay as either JS0 or JS1 so I don’t have to reprogram them everytime I run those emulators? Lol
Thanks

Depending on how many controllers you have connected, the order in which they're assigned to players can vary. If you only have the DS4 connected, it will always appear as Player1, if you one of the others also connected, it might be assigned as player 2.
You can use @meleu's script to order the joysticks as you want, look here. -
@mitu thank you for that!
I was wondering, could you give me a run through on how to run that script? I’m unfamiliar and I’m pretty much a noob lol

@yorks361 There are instructions on the project's page how to install and use it.

@mitu gotcha thank you. After pressing F4 do it type
“curl https://raw.githubusercontent.com/meleu/RetroPie-joystick-selection/master/install.sh -o install.sh
bash install.sh”As is? Or is there a sequence I have to type them in?

@yorks361 Each line is one command to execute in the order they are listed.
