I forked 2 arcade emulator cores and added many hacks from HBMAME.

I forked MAME2003 Plus and M.B.A mini, and then I added many hacks from HBMAME.
For MAME2003 Plus, I added many hacks for CPS1, PGM, M92, Taitio F2, Taito F3 and somes other boards. Now I rename it to HBMAME2003 Plus: https://github.com/SumavisionQ5/HBMAME2003-PlusFor M.B.A mini, it is a project created by wonder1999.
M.B.A-mini (M.B.A = MAME's skeleton + FBA's romsets)
M.B.A-mini from MAME2010-libretro (https://github.com/libretro/mame2010-libretro)
After the codes are streamlined, only CPS 1/2,NEOGEO,IREM M92 roms are supported.
Now it is coming to its final stage, only a few CPS game drivers need some tuning.
I forked it and added all working hacks of CPS2, M92 and KOF97 from HBMAME. I renamed my fork to M.B.A mini Plus:https://github.com/SumavisionQ5/MBA.mini.Plus-libretro
If you have any interest in arcade game hacks, you can try to build them. Since I am not a coder, what I can do is very limited. Any help on codeing is welcome.
Thank you. -
@SumavisionQ5 There are too many fork of mame already, send this stuff through a PR to the libretro repositories please, at the very least for mame2003-plus it shouldn't be an issue.
-
@barbudreadmon There are too many hacks, and I have pushed some pull requests before. The mame2003-plus guys complained that hacks are too many to maintain and rejected my pull request at last. That was why I made a new fork. Now with my own fork, I can add more hacks freely. For MBA mini plus, recently I have added two new Dungeons & Dragons hacks which are only exclusive on YouJu platform(a commerical emulator project with many exclusive good hacks, but ROMs are encrypted). Maybe I can add more hacks when I decrypt the ROMs from YouJu platform.

yeap we encouraged @SumavisionQ5 to make a fork for his hacks anyone can fork the project off as far as i know its open source. Maybe they can be added to fba if they dont mind adding hacks.
-
@grant2258 Ok, i didn't think you minded since mame2003-plus is not a 1:1 conversion of a mame romset already. Having more forks makes setups more complex imho, and i saw twinaphex mentionning he was unhappy with the number of lr-mame forks (pretty sure he would be more than happy to get rid of all mame flavors except mame2003-plus and current mame).
@SumavisionQ5 fba already includes a lot of hacks, if you think some interesting ones are missing and want to port them to lr-fbalpha, you'll be welcome, most likely they'll end up in upstream repo too.
-
@barbudreadmon the problem we had is one game added 45 or 46 hacks for one game alone. I think there is a place for hb and hacks in general we just done feel like mame2003plus should be hbmame
-
@grant2258 @SumavisionQ5 Ok, let me correct myself then, neither me nor the fba team are especially interested in having tons of hacks for the only purpose of having tons of hacks. Afaik all the hacks in current fba were requests from the community, meaning they were probably interesting in one way or another. Again, if you think some of those hacks are interesting, you are welcome to add them to fbalpha, don't be greedy by adding tons of hacks no one will ever play though. HBMAME is the place for preserving arcade homebrew history, fbalpha is not, neither mame2003-plus i guess.

We've discussed in mame2003-plus that it would be good to only add hacks and homebrews that bring meaningful changes from the versions of games that are already supported.
Some games seem to have dozens and dozens of different hacks that only make minor changes like enabling a certain cheat. That is what we realized when we were working together before.
In other words, we're willing to add 3 or 4 hacked versions of a game -- if the hacks are interesting -- but not 20 or 40.
If there are some "Best of HBMAME" hacks and homebrews in your fork that are compatible with mame2003-plus then let's try to work together to add them.

For now I spend most of my time trying to port all hacks from HBMAME of PC to my HBMAME2003 Plus and M.B.A mini Plus since we have no port of HBMAME for SBC. I have ported about 2 thousands of hacks from HBMAME. And I also decrypt and offer some hacks from a commerical emulator named YouJu. Maybe later when I am free I will try to choose some valuable hacks and add them to MAME2003 plus.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
