Reckon it has a Pi Zero in it?
-
@Shakz Why would you pay $60 dollar case for a $5 pi?
-
@glennlake if i cant make a pi 3 fit in it im going to put a pi zero in it. I really badly want to mod one of these with a pi no matter which way i have to do it. Even with a $5 pi and the two usb to wiimote adaptor boards i have for it, its still better than the 30 games it started with.
-
A pi 3 will fit no probs....I bet there is no active cooling in that thing so nothing in there but a tiny board I bet. I am thinking though they only start you off with 30 games so you can buy more from them.....again. Might actually be worth trying to hack. With mounting a pi in it you could even take it a step further and just plug a nice 1tb drive loaded with all your goodies to your router (or whatever you may have that can serve up a samba share) network drive and samba mount the drive. You just need to install the samba client as retropie seems to just have the samba server installed. I have done it just goofing off. Plays PS1 games just fine. Little lag here and there but no biggie at all. Still much faster than an actual PS1...gotta look at that. This way you can skip putting a big hdd in it.

@edmaul69 Ya.. Me too!!

Something that would be better than paying 60$ for a Pi case would be to convince @mike to start selling his custom made Pi Nintendo 3D printed case.

@Rion Yeah I would be totally happy with that. Wouldn't even need all the fancy stuff like a working door and a mini cartridge. Just a place to mount a fan for some active cooling and some holes for air to go through. Led I would prolly change out as well.....

This exists: http://pi-tendo.com/
You can also find some on ebay. But to be honest, the 3D printing I've seen used on these projects just doesn't produce the highest quality cases. One of those things I would make if I had access to a 3d printer... but I probably wouldn't pay for one.

This is not the same as the one that's linked in the thread. @mike 's 3D printed custom case even looks better then Nintendo's Mini New.
-
Oh, I didn't mean to imply it was the same. Just pointing out that others have stepped up to the plate with the 3D prints for sale. As for what looks better, it's all subjective so I'll just leave it at that.
-
@Rion i cant agree. I look at his 3d printed nes and i see every line of all the layers of plastic. I will never buy a 3d printed part that is to be displayed. They all look like garbage to me. His nes could have been really good if it didnt show every flaw of 3d printing. I applaud him for what he accomplished but i am too picky to be able to enjoy using 3d printed stuff as a show piece. Sure there are several things i would take in a 3d printed part, just not this. I am not dogging the work he did, its just the side effect of 3d printed parts

@edmaul69 there is always mold injection :p

It's really amusing how many friends on Facebook and community are going bonkers for this thing. They have totally no idea what the Raspberry Pi can do. I can build them all consoles that destroy this thing but they aren't hearing me.

Sometimes a puppet show is much more effective.
-
@GreenHawk84 you need to mod one with a pi in it to make them want it.

I think I am going to construct a console RPi this year as a gift.
