Stuck in controller configuration screen
-
I'm having a similar issue. I've tried a few different controllers, gamepad and keyboard and I get the same issue no matter what. The welcome screen appears and, on the first prompt I hold down a button as instructed. It then recognizes the device (my gamepad in this image). But what happens next, instead of going to the configuration menu, these lines appear across the dialog box, and the darkened "OK" button appears at the bottom. Nothing else happens, only plugging in a keyboard and pressing F4 does anything.

@spazboy1979 I'm going to ask you the same thing - provide the info in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first. Are you using a 3rd party image ?

i've wiped the sd card and reinstalled raspian and manually installed retropie 3 times. I always get this result. :-(

@spazboy1979 RetroPie is already built on Raspbian, you don't need the manual installation - you can use the RetroPie image for the Pi Zero, it's Raspbian Lite with RetroPie already installed.
You didn't mention if you're using an USB hub, I'm just assuming you are, since you have all these devices connected to your Pi. Do you have any other devices connected ?
Can you post a system log from your device ( the output ofdmesg
) to pastebin.com ? -
@mitu Thanks for your help.
I started over and used the build from the link provided.

@mitu
I apologize for that.I am back to my original issue though.
Stuck o controller configuration and this is after uninstalling the 3rd party and falling the posted link you provided.
I set the buttons and it seems the ok button at the bottom of the screen is not registering.
If I hit F4 to skip I get a command prompt and nothing else. The exact same screen as above.Any help is deeply appreciated.

@mitu
When I go to command prompt now it reads pi@raspberrypi:-$
All commands I type at this prompt say command not found.
Do I need to try a different emulator? -
So going back thru and redoing emulation station I find this error now.
E: Unable to locate package libcur14-openss1-dev -

libcurl4-openssl-dev
is in the default Raspbian repositories, so it should be found, but are you connected to the internet ?
Regarding the command prompt commands, what commands have you tried ?jstest
is in the normal $PATH and should be available by default in RetroPie's image.
