MAME ROW stands for MAME Random Of the Week. We randomly select an arcade game from the 0.78 MAME Reference Set to play on the week. The idea is to play games we've never played before, interact with other forum members, post hi-scores, share game strategies, fun facts, and (the most important) HAVE FUN!
Notes:
-
We usually post hi-scores screenshots after playing with only one credit. If you used more than one credit, please mention it on your post.
-
There's no need to use RetroPie to join the MAME ROW! You can play it on any platform you want.
-
Feel free to post your hi-score (or any content about the game) anytime you want on the previous rounds topics (link below).
Every Monday we create a topic at the "General Discussion and Gaming > MAME Random Of the Week" forum section with the 3 random games to be voted. And on Wednesday we check the result.
These "rules" are constantly being improved!

This week's winner is Boulder Dash / Boulder Dash Part 2

Happy enough with Boulder Dash, although I didn't get time to vote this week.
I did give them a very quick try.
Ganbare Ginkin
Seems to be a selection of mini-games. I chose one where you had to pee on a fire, but no matter how hard I tried, I didn't seem to be able to put the fire out! I kind of like these quirky little games, I really like Point Blank with a lightgun, but not sure whether this would work with a high-score competition.Psycho-Nics Oscar
I liked this one. I've not seen the 'choose your powerup' mechanic used on a game where you control a character on foot before (although it's a well-trod path in horizontal shooters). Seemed pretty good, although it was very easy to die.Boulder Dash
It's a classic of course, although I am more familiar with the many home computer versions than the arcade version. On the face of it, Boulder Dash may look like an action game, but it soon becomes clear that it's actually a puzzle/strategy game. I'm not sure whether this still holds true for the arcade version, as both games I played I ran out of time, which I don't remember being an issue on the home computer versions.I look forward to trying them a bit more this week, maybe.
