Dumb questions about Retropie ORA for OGST (Helps needed)
-
Hi All,
this is my first official post, I am Danielsan and I recently bought an Odroiod-XU4 and the OGST, and I have some questions about them and I hope you can help me.
I had a quick session yesterday so I saw that everything were fine but I still some doubts.
- Are the emulators already setup for the best performance on this board? I mean while the PSX was already a double res I noticed the Dreamcast was running at 50hz. I saw in many video that people changed from lr-reicast to reicast, what do you suggest?
-
While the left button case works fine the right one is insensitive, is it possible to program this button and assign an hard or soft reboot? And how?
-
I have a wifi dongle that is supposed to work with many boards however it wasn't recognized, I need to check it through a terminal, can I enter in a console like any other linux distro?
-
Is retropie based on Debian/Ubuntu?
-
Can you suggest me which shaders work best with this board if I want to replicate the scalines effect?
-
I was unable to enter in RetroArch pressing hotkeys + x, during the loading time a screenshot is telling to press rapidly the A button however I was unable to enter in any config session. I did not understand if it was my fault just because I am using the Gamesir 3g wireless which seems it has the a and b buttons inverted.
Thanks in advance I hope I could bother you again with some questions more in the next future.

This is not the offical forum for XU4 devices, some users got the device and may help you in questions regarding I can't answer...

Don't know really ;) Maybe other users can help out.

Sure, https://github.com/crcerror/XU4-ORA-scripts
There is a script that makes reset button work.
usesudo reset_button.sh
to make the script work.
It will terminate running emulators and restart ES if you are in main menu of ES- I have a wifi dongle that is supposed to work with many boards however it wasn't recognized, I need to check it through a terminal, can I enter in a console like any other linux distro?
Yes sure. Sadly the list of out of the box supported Wifi dongles isn't as widespread like on Raspbian.
Best way is to use a supported device like the edimax n150 or netgear wg111- Is retropie based on Debian/Ubuntu?
Rasperry uses Raspian which is a ARM based "fork" of kind of Debian. It is not a 100% Debian system (someone might correct me)
The XU4 uses a full Debian system, so every driver available for debian is available for xu4 --> available for ORA- Can you suggest me which shaders work best with this board if I want to replicate the scalines effect?
No, do not use them

No... the screenshot does not say "A" button it says a button. Try to use DPAD or shoulder keys to enter RetroPie Emulator Setup Menu. Hotkey + X should work however if you are inside an emulator instance.

You are welcome

Thank you very much for your kind assistance!

What is the model of the Wifi dongle ?

I think @cyperghost means he doesn't uses shaders (?), but the XU4 has a more powerful GPU than a regular PI, so at least the PI scanline shaders (
crt-pi
andzfast
ones) would be fine. -

Yes! Sorry in my native language we do not need to use personal pronoun for explicitly expression.
Thx for correctingI think ORA is based on Ubuntu.
Remember now to read about this OS ... So I think you're right. So Debian based but Ubuntu

Never mind, I am not native English as well. My wifi dongle should be the PI's official one; if Retropie Ora is based on Ubuntu the firmware should be available unless it is not recommended to install it in the standard way. As a matter of fact I found a guide on how installing the wifi through git, this shouldn't be difficult to achieve!

Updates:
- the wifi dongle works fine I had just to setup it through console with a wireless keyboard.
- The reset buttons works but only with Retroarch
- Gamesir Pad now works fine, you must set those in android mode and are fully recognized by the Kernel otherwise are recognized as Xbox pad and does not work properly.

Not in my setup ... All emulators are detected. As long as they started correctly by runcommand ;)
EDIT:
If there is a failure in terminating some special emulators you may alter line 30 to[ -e /proc/${pidarray[z]} ] && kill -9 ${pidarray[z]} && smart_wait ${pidarray[z]}

Thanks I'll take a look.
I have another small question 😇
I was able to download all the packages from the Beziel project but the Megadrive ones, I guess I could do it manually but maybe you can give me an hints! 🤝

Even the Bezel issue has been solved, it shows the MD stuff as uninstalled while are properly installed...
