Right so ive got a raspberry pi 3, it has retropie on it, im not a massive noob i know my way around it, but this problem has got me, so its all setup and working had it setup for a while works great on any tv i put it on, however i bought a cheap telly the other day, samsung hd ready lcd, it works fine with my pc the tv is spot on, i put my pi onto it and it boots up lovely goes into emulationstation and i can select my games, when i click to run a game the screen goes blank and a message pops up from tv saying mode not supported? Now ive googled this and everyones problem is that the pi wont display at all but mine boots up great but wont launch any game, has anyone had this problem cos im stuck, thank you

@cockneynutjob We don't support 3rd party images in the forum, especially the ones with RetroPie pre-installed. If you wish to help you, please install the image from retropie.org.uk/download.

It wasn't pre installed i put it on my self from that site??

@cockneynutjob OK, so it's not pre-installed. Did you change the video mode resolution for the game/core you're launching ? Normally the emulator, when launched, would use the default resolution of the system - the one you have in Emulationstation.
How are you connecting the TV ? HDMI/Composite cable ? What emulator are you launching ?Try adding the info requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first to you post, as much as you can.

Ive changed it to every resolution in that list before it boots up doesnt make a difference, its connected via hdmi
-
@cockneynutjob Try removing the resolution options and let the emulator run at the default PI resolution.
You can see what resolutions are supported by the TV by running - from a command line -tvservice -m CEA

I ran that and the tvs preferred res is group 1 mode 4 changed it in config.txt to that setting still nothing
