after testing you can go back to emulation station by typing emulationstation

      or by typing exit.

Thanks for your help. I had the stick plugged into the wrong port. Switched port everything works. I've started adding roms already. After I install the rom, do I delete it from my laptop and keep on usb drive? Thanks again for your help

@mariobros_54 If you're using the USB transfer method - described in the docs - then once the ROMs appear on your PI, you can delete from the from source (USB, laptop, etc.).

I've uploaded my first set of games. Played them. Deleted the files from the usb, now the roms qont play. Also (2), just started, theres no rom folder on usb drive. I've reformatted usb drive and reload pie mount. That didnt do anything same thing.

@mariobros_54 You said you used the USB for transfer. If you'd like to run the ROMs from the USB, that's another story. The docs have both methods covered - which one did you use ?

@mariobros_54 can you be more precise - the USB method for transferring ROMs or for Running ROMs from an USB drive ?

Transferring roms. I transferred roms to retropie, deleted rims from usb drive. Roms wont load on retropie, now

@mariobros_54 Are the roms listed in Emulationstation ? Then it means the transfer was ok.

Then maybe the ROMs are not correct - what kind of ROMs are we talking about - can you give some examples ?

Street fighter 2 series. The roms worked, before I deleted them from the usb

Watched the video about transferring roms from usb. I did that. Today I deleted the roms that I uploaded to retropie. Then the roms wouldn't load, after I deleted roms from usb.

Did you, by any chance, changed emulators in the Runcommand menu ? Can you try with a non-arcade ROM and see if it still works after removing the USB from the Pi ?
